He never looked that impressive at Chelsea, always seemed to miss a lot more than he got, but he did score better than 1 in 3 for them and has five years to go on one of their eight year contracts so they might want to move him on. In the current market he might be about the standard we can hope for.

But I doubt we'll like their valuation. We're more likely to be going for the Auxerre striker we're purportedly linked with at a price around £13m.

The other season, whilst at chelsea, he had between 9-11 bookings after 6 months and none were for bad tackles. All for dissent and bad attitude etc.

To be fair, he played well last night, but it’s hard to forget what a mis-firing donkey he looked at Chelsea.

But also to be fair, mateta looked like Bambi on ice for his first 2 or 3 years with us, but we’ve had a good couple of years out of him now

I liked the way he was a little bit aggressive and niggly as well, which a centre forward needs to let defenders know they’re there, give them a hard time…….apart from being lazy, that was one of my niggles I had about Benteke, too soft and easy to play against, he didn’t put himself about and rough defenders up a bit, Jackson was a good example of how to play centre forward last night, apart from not putting the ball in the net 🤣
