Main Stand redevelopment thread

A few details wouldn't hurt. We all know it's going to happen, but it has now been delayed yet again.
It was meant to start in January, then we had our hopes pinned on May. If it's going to be next Christmas then just say so.

No news suggests that Parish doesn't know when it will start either.
Look at it this way: if they do start properly, there'll be some kind of problem anyway.
There's no flexibility these days. Nothing gets done on time or on budget in our countries. China maybe. Not even sure about that.

Maybe we should get the Chinese to build it. We could call it the Streve Palish stand.

It was meant to have already started 13 months ago.

China definitely. A few others. Mostly in Asia. Japan gets the job done too.

Obviously the likes of Qatar, Saudi, get it done using sociopathic methods.

Somewhere in the middle of the two extremes there is a sweet spot.

Well yeah, if we want to go right back to the beginning, it was meant to be a full new stadium on the current site, over a decade ago.

Rather than a new stand.
The infamous Ron Noades plan? That was 30 odd years ago. Not to mention the Crystal Palace Park 40k stadium which, unsurprisingly, never got off the ground.

From information published the Club started building the Academy in 2014 with most of the major work continuing until 2019 when it opened. I see a number of claims that Textor paid for the Academy but he only came on the scene as a Director in August 2021 having loaned Palace some money for players before that. Academy opened in October 2019 and it more likely that the £45+5 million received from ManU for Aaron Wan Bissaka in June 2019 help pay for the development.

Johnson took over Textor’s shares and his team has advised Palace to change the structure of the new stand from concrete to steel with resulting large savings. The Club sacked constructors Ardmore some months ago prior to it entering administration. The reason, not surprisingly, lack of progress. It could take up to a year for a new construction company to be appointed.

In the meantime, we struggle to cope with the demand for tickets by those who wish to be regular fans, bring their families and friends and develop a continuing fan base.
Not entirely accurate. As I've said before it was an independent stadium advisor that SP brought on board prior to Johnsons arrival that suggested the change to steel. Nothing to do with WJ.

Ardmore have had nothing to do with the stand either. It was lendlease (who rebranded to a previous name of Bovis) that were appointed and removed.

Also if they had someone lined up (or even did a re-tender) you could easily get someone on board a lot quicker than a year. Especially if under a construction management agreement rather than D&B etc that allows an earlier start on site.

Agree on the textor / funding / academy points though

I'm referring to Steve Parish's second plan.

When he first came in, he was talking about a new stadium on the site of the National Sports Centre in Crystal Palace Park. That was plan 1.

About three years later, that was changed into a new stadium on the current site of Selhurst Park, which we were shown pictures and even blueprints of. That was plan 2.

The current plan for the new stand kind of evolved out of plan 2, just reduced down. The fascade that is supposed to be on the outside of the new stand, was from the plan 2 new stadium plan.
