I heard we have tabled a £20m offer for Hackney but Boro holding out for £25m. No Championship player is worth £25m. Hopefully Boro will come down a bit. Hackney wants out and Boro need the money.

I run my own business and will always try and get the best deal. Thats common sense. Sometimes the best deal is to pay a little bit more and get it done before a rival swoops in and takes that deal from you. Also, common sense

I cant get this Thomas frank love in , he done well with Brentford found wanting at a poor spurs team , no European experience , I believe he is a big big risk ,
Spuds are a poison chalice and not worth entering into the equation. It's the job he did at Brentford that made him a desirable prospect.

I dont see why not.

The guy can score and is great in the air, we just need to play a little more to his strengths
The new manager could conceivably not favour that that type of striker, preferring instead someone who is more mobile and more fleet of foot.
Mateta was much derided before his failed transfer abroad, JSL was purchased in a £48 Mill deal as a replacement, Mateta was then welcomed back into the 'Fold' and was favoured over JSL. The rejuvenated Mateta was worthy of his place, his performances far better than those produced by JSL.

I agree.

With regards to the difference between £20mil and £25mil, that's chump change in football money so if he is the right player, so be it.

I'd also add that whilst it may be claimed that's a lot for a C'ship player, it's the same market Olise and Eze came from, now of Bayern and Arsenal respectively.

Can't say I agree with this mate. If we'd paid £25m for Eze or Olise, nobody would be saying we overpaid looking back. Bale, Ramsay and Walcott all came from the Championship as well.

Meanwhile our list of £25m+ signings from Premier League clubs includes Strand Larsen, Johnson, Benteke, Nketiah and Sakho...

Toppmoller and Pierre Sage both represent a risk with no EPL experience - but other than Iraola who of the current EPL (ex EPL) managers will excite our fan base?

Frank, Dyche, Silva, etc are all pretty uninspiring.

Maybe we shouldn’t be so hung up on EPL experience at this juncture - Régis Le Bris didn’t have any and he’s done a brilliant job at Sunderland.

Risk/reward and all that….. it’s never dull as a Palace fan is it!
All of those names didn't have "EPL experience", until they did.

We should never get hung up on it; it's a faulty way of thinking that eventually jusy leads to a revolving door of cast-offs when taken to it's logical conclusion.
