Phone Signal

Every day I drive the same route and walk the same route I have for last 5 years and over the last few months have noticed a massive deterioration in phone signal. I'd say in a 30 min call it drops out 3-4 times at least whether i'm walking or driving and in areas where signal never used to be an issue.

Does anyone know if this is just a me problem or whether there is some better explanation as to what on earth is going on with phone signal these days!

5G roll out has been appalling in this country we lag behind so called lesser European Countries.

It's taken so long that the suspicion is that mobile networks are now planning to jump ahead to 6G which is due to launch in 2030 and will be 1000 times faster.

This matters because 5g and certainly 6g eliminates the need for broadband (digging up roads) for most of us. I live in a block of flats we have fibre in the road outside but not from the road to the flats as it would mean rewiring the whole block. 5G / 6G eliminates that step entirely.

As others have pointed out I suspect that your basic network may have taken a step back as the networks don't want to spend money maintaining the current system which they are planning to dump.

The other issue is the lack of co-operation between the networks with each one doing there own thing rather than having a mobile equivalent to Openreach.
