But they automatically took the word of the perpetrator that he had been racially abused!Have you never heard that we all miss things that are actually very obvious when we are focused on something else! Police officers are trained to observe but they are nonetheless as human as everyone else. It’s the very reason why eye witness accounts are so very unreliable.
I don’t question the facts of the injuries and the evidence later discovered. I do question the assumptions that these were deliberately ignored. No policeman would do that.
It’s not incompetence. It’s just the frailty of being human.
In situations like this, you separate the 2 parties and take their version of events. If they had done this, it would have been immediately apparent that one was seriously injured, even if they missed all the blood 🤔. Before Wissie explains that I am not a Police Officer, I have been involved as a witness in several altercations at the airport ( obviously not involving knives). On every occasion the parties are separated and spoken to individually, at the same time. This was a case of believing the claim of racism without getting the facts and completely ignoring the young lad was dying. Oh I know how about listening to him when he said he had been stabbed? Not difficult is it
Then they were most certainly not up to being a police officer
