Crystal Palace vs. Rayo Vallecano match thread

Lacroix is worth a mention too for last night.
For much of his time at the club he's had the experienced Richards and Guehi either side of him.
Yesterday he had the inexperienced Canvot and Riad beside him.
They can't have played more than a handful of games together as a back 3.
Lacroix played a very disciplined role covering, organising and encouraging them.
It's also a sign of Glasner's confidence in Riad to use him instead of the experienced Lerma who has served us well in big games in the past in the back 3 when needed.
La Croix is great for us and I love the way he tries to get the crowd going. He's one of our own.

It was never going to be a classic match, too much at stake, but we just had a bit more class. Rayo were a disappointingly dirty side, who just wanted to kick us off the park. Sarr couldn't get into the game as they doubled up on him, kicking in the head, ribs, legs and ankles.

Only 12 English clubs have lifted a European Trophy ever, I never dreamed we would be one of them.

It will be for you.

I my life, we've once won a trophy three years on the trot. And the third was the best of the lot, Invincibles. You're gonna do the same. You should have been in it this season - Easy scored the winner when you beat those financially-doped Mancs.

I was just thinking of my neighbour in Coulsdon when I was a kid. Remember the big Palace flag in his window for the 1990 Cup final. Him and my dad {Gooner} were the only two people who had season tickets to a team.

You deserve this and what you'll get next season.

But as a genuine question from someone who doesn't really follow football other than my own team. Why are you getting rid of Glasner?

If we had a manager who made history by winning us 3 trophies in 13 months when we'd never won anything before, we'd have given him a statue and got him to build a dynasty.

I hope who ever replaces him does even better by winning the EL.

It's mad to think you've lost Olise, Easy and Guelhi. 2 in CL SFs, one with a cup.
We aren't. He made the decision to go, we can't do anything about it other than wish him well and thank him for the memories and for everything he has done for us. We will be eternally grateful for what he has done here in a short time, and he will always be part of our history.

We'd love him to stay on for the next ride, the Europa League, but will wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours.

He says he wants a bit of "me" time before his next gig, spend some time in Austria with his family. Can't begrudge that, he's certainly earned it.

And yes, in my mind a statue is completely appropriate. I'd put it near the gates as you come into the Fanzone.

Rayo Vallecano are 8th in La Liga, they finished last season in 8th place and they went into last night's game on the back of a 9 match unbeaten run.
I expected more from them than they produced.'Toothless' in the final third, overall disappointing and deserved to lose.
Or we were better and expertly contained their attack?

You can be positive about us now. We have a European trophy.

Do you think a sculptor could capture his little touchline dances after we scored?

I like Ward like we all probably do. But he made the intervju about god is making this. Almost sounded like a cultist.
He's spent a long time with Guéhi, Eze, and the rest of the Jesus Brigade, clearly. Anyway, whatever gets them in the frame of mind to keep pulling miracles like this is fine by me.

I did roll my eyes at it a bit, but they deserve to say and think whatever they like about it after all they've done. Hey, it seems to be working.

On Tuesday night whilst enjoying a tipple in a delightful garden in a local Public House, a member of staff asked for my opinion as to the outcome of the Final and I informed him that I was confident of victory ! Shortly afterwards whilst returning to my abode I crossed paths with a local supporter of our club who was walking his dog and I expressed the same sentiments to him.
Perhaps my positivity was on account of the heat and the intoxicating liquids !

Or you had a touch of the prophecy about you! I actually felt quite confident all day too, funnily enough. Wouldn't have expected to be. But the lads proved we had every right. Not just a win, but a great performance too in a European cup final! Wow!

A fine moment in history for the mighty Eagles to be sure. Now, Mr Parish, you have a platform, over to you, don't balls it up.
A strange season, poor in the league with the manager saying he's off early doors, same manager having a strop live on tv, selling two England internationals, the main striker actually having a medical for a big Italian club, big money additions etc. And yet the joy was there to behold, this is a unified group!
I am sure Steve (16 years CEO of FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Conference League Winning, 14th season in the Premier League, stadium owning, top tier academy and financially sound club) Parish will do his best not to “balls it up”!
