Aston Villa Predictions.

Class side and a difficult fixture, can see us coming away with a 2-0 defeat, particularly with our injury crisis, heaping yet more pressure on OG.

We often 'look good' against top sides. Even when we lose......it always seems like a tad of bad luck.

And then shortly thereafter we always fail to bring that 'look' to our games against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Not feeling even moribund about this, never mind about Optimistic. Unai Emery has performed a miracle with Villa.

When he was appointed the season before last, A.Villa were 17th after 13 games. They ended the season in 7th place.
Last season they finished 4th, gaining a place in the Champions League. This season they have defeated Bayern Munich in this competition.
Such progression under a well-respected manager who has tasted success in Europe with both Sevilla and Villarreal.

Four losses and a draw in their last five I think they are equally hitting a bumpy patch.
Depending on who we get back I have some optimism about this and I truly believe that our fortunes turning is not a case of "if" but "when".
Heart says a morale boosting win but I can see a 2-2 draw.

COYP!

They are missing a few important players and hopefully we should have a proper midfield (Hughes and Doucoure) and possibly Eze back, I think the team will be keen to shake off the Fulham performance and I think we might snatch an unlikely hard-fought draw. 0-0.

I never rated him - thought he was possibly the most overrated and boring manager in the league. Obviously, now I've eaten my words, and don't listen to my opinions.

What's our likely starting XI?
For me, it's:

Henderson

Chalobah Lacroix Guehi

Munoz (or possibly Clyne) Hughes Doucoure Mitchell

Sarr Mateta ??? (and a big question mark at that)

Re the ??? probably Schlupp but would prefer Agbinone

Re Munoz, he hasn't tended to do well after International breaks and may benefit from a bench place.

I think the bench will be stronger with Lerma possibly back and Richards two weeks further forward and perhaps even Eze.

I'd rather see Eze and Wharton given the extra week than be rushed back.

If my XI is anywhere near being right. we will do well to get something from the game. Obviously, I'm hoping for a win but our league record at Villa Park is pretty poor - last league win was in December 2013, a season we actually did the double over them (1-0 in both games). Prior to that our previous win was in 1991.

I'm hoping we can sneak a draw 1-1

You’d hope, given the squad available that OG will finally see sense and change to a formation that suits the players and gives us a fighting chance. If he does this then you would hope the line up would be something like.

Henderson

Clyne Guehi Lacroix Mitchell

Munoz Doucoure Chalobah Sarr

Hughes

Mateta

Worth putting Hughes a little in advance of the midfield 4 so he can hassle the Villa defence. Alternatively he could just slot into a midfield 5.

All academic though because I fully expect us to play the same formation as the previous 11 league games and get overwhelmed in midfield again.

Not really seeing where this suits the players. Munoz is a wing back, Chalobah a centre back, and Sarr isn’t a midfielder!

Thank you for letting me know, but for anyone falling for the same embarrassment, the soccer match being discussed in this topic is NOT being played today.

It is currently scheduled for NEXT Saturday. Date will be 11/23/24
Venue is The Villa Park Birmingham Arena
Google Rating is 4.5 with an assortment of circa 8800 opinions based on the arena.

Considering the margins within our previous soccer matches have been incredibly thin, the treatment room crisis has not helped matters, especially in our quest towards attempting to secure European football, as a number of supporters were hoping for during the pre-season timeline.

The London World broadcasting desk has today reported that 3 influential players are expected to return to the team starting against Aston Villa Park FC.

R.Chadi
E.Eze
J.Lerma

Personally with the personnel mentioned above, I sincerely hope we return to the Eagles nest with 3 worthwhile points against a soccer side experiencing a form of disarray currently.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend

I’m wondering which one of HOL’s illustrious regulars is on a wind up?

Honey Gee AKA…………

Not really seeing where this suits the players. Munoz is a wing back, Chalobah a centre back, and Sarr isn’t a midfielder!
It suits them a lot better than the current formation. Chalobah has played numerous positions including midfield. Sarr is a winger which he could play here. Munoz is a makeshift player in that position I will give you. Mind you OG played him as a wide forward in the last 15 against Wolves. At the moment OG’s formation has Mitchell, a defensive left back, playing as an attacking wing back, Sarr, a left winger, playing on the right and any one of a about three players out of position as a left sided attacker (with Eze out). Last game also had Guehi in centre midfield due to injuries.

I don’t think my formation is any less balanced than OG’s and has the advantage we don’t get as easily overrun in midfield like we have in 9 out of the 11 league games we’ve played this season.
