Glasner is a Glazier....Our best manager ever ?

Agreed. Also, the better managers will work with what they're given and don't moan publicly when star assets are sold. If they're a manager who will only come if money is spent then one has to question whether it's worth taking the risk employing them.

My take on Glasner is that he wanted the club to move forward faster than Parish and the board felt was prudent. As he said himself last week this will be his second longest tenure as a manager after his 4 years at Linz. He's a man in a hurry to reach the biggest clubs. I do wonder what part Parish's refusal to let Bayern speak to him played in Glasner's decision not to extend his contract with us.

Having said all that, he's taken us on a dream ride few of us expected to see in our lifetime and he may well depart having won us a second major trophy and with a place in next year's Europa League. But even if we fall at the last hurdle, we'll still always have 17th May 2025 to look back on and with today's technology, replay and replay to our heart's content.
We didn't refuse the Bayern deal. I believe we asked for 85 mil instead - which is clearly saying no really. Still, they could have paid it. They offered something we wouldn't take as well. Like 18 mil or something. Which was probably standard compensation more or less.

Agree with all this. If we win tonight it's the Europa and another difficult Premiership season coming up. I reckon European involvement (it's the third tier competition but it is Europe, understood. Sort of like Austria) has cost us a minimum of fifteen points this season, the ignominy of the defeat at Macclesfield and the toys out of the pram at Sunderland, which was a humiliation. Doing a Coppell and finishing third in the top flight trumps any of Glasner's, or any other Palace manager's achievements. But, as Doombear says, 17th May 2025 was massive. I thought it very instructive that Glasner said he thought that if Palace wins tonight, it would trump that. That is something I could never accept.

I'm gonna miss him for sure. It'll be difficult to adapt to a different style so can only hope Mr P has a cracking new face lined up to continue the good work.

FA Cup, Community Shield, Conference League winners.
An incredible achievement.
Thank you Oliver Glasner and the very best for the future.
I tip my hat in reverence.
He will be a hard 'Act' to follow.
Let's not get downhearted. The Mickey Mousers were distraught when Shankly left but look what happened afterwards.

Undeniably beyond hard work for a chairman to keep happy but yes the best manager we have ever had & probably ever will have.

I actually think he would be terrible at a big club.

Regardless I'm on the booze until the cellar runs dry

Without doubt our best manager ever, but it’s all thanks to our best Chairman ever. These our heady days that could only have dreamed of decades ago.
Certainly a refreshing change from the assortment of rogues, spivs and blowhards (Bloye, Noades, Goldberg and Jordan) who've been Chairmen in the past.
