Manchester City vs. Crystal Palace match thread

I hope we don't have to field a front 3 of Larsen, Johnson and Pino too often.
There's no physical strength or power there and every duel is lost.
It makes it so difficult to build moves and means that we are frequently under pressure as we can't retain meaningful possession in forward areas.
Is it only me that thinks a front 3 of Ayew, Benteke and Townsend would be better (even now)?

Only you

But a front 3 of Johnson and any other combination maybe. But a front 3 of Pino, Sarr and Mateta/Johansen no chance.

But I still hope Johnson becomes good, he has proved it 4+ years before so. But right now

That was awful but let's face it, and I say it every week we've been poor for the majority of the season.

As excited as I am about Leipzig I genuinely worry about next season.

A really poor season form wise has been disguised by getting to the Conference League Final .

Johnson is just awful.. Absolutely shocking.. And Strand Larsson, despite a decent start I felt is concerning me a bit as well... Over £80m on those two players.... Very concerning.

I agree with the frustrations and understand where the concerns stem from however I do have a different stance, albeit I hold it with no belief that I am correct:

I do think all of Glasners eggs have been in the Conference League basket. Without that, he’d of been sacked long ago and this would have gone down as one of our poorest seasons for a while, assuming our performance was the same.

Our performance may have been better were it not the case that (according to my belief) beyond mere survival in the PL, the league and all other comps hadn’t have been dismissed by the manager.

It is my belief that PL survival was non-negotiable however the manager has solely prioritised European silverware.

A different manager next season may not take the same stance and we might look like a competitive league side once again.

Lerma has been awful all season when played in midfield. Only time he has been okay if played at cover in the back three. Terrible tonight but then nobody put in a shift and team play was non existent. Credit to City I suppose but we didn’t help ourselves playing as we did tonight. As for Johnson and Pino as awful as always :-(

I wholeheartedly concur with these sentiments. 😡 😡

Was stuck in the city end with my mate.
Some observation I had
- Brennan Johnson is absolutely awful hes even worse in person than on the tele. Dont waste any more time on getting this guy up to the level this is who he is without his jammy tap in goals.
- Glasner's starting eleven gave us no hope to even try to get something from that game. Hughes + Lerma in midfield sums it up with 0 progessive passing between the pair of them

Just a bad day at the office

I think the manager and the players have the final on their minds imo, Next season under a new manager and a couple of new players things will be different 🤔

Alas our worst midfield combination.

No matter who its against that was a terrible performance. Spent the entire first half with the back 3 passing sideways as usual. No movement going forward, far too deep even against them. I feel terrible for the ones who travelled up there.
Conference league aside its been a pretty dismal season football wise. Very boring with relegation a real possibility until last weekend and if it wasn't hidden by getting to the final I think most would be glad to see the end of Glasner now. Its become very very stale and found out.
He'll always be an absolute legend but I'm looking forward to the end of this season now with hopefully another cup and then another European competition next season.
