At long last Crawley has been dropped..

He has certainly performed better than Crawley this season as he has several hundreds already whilst Crawley has only had batting failures in the County Championship. There is only one way to find out if Gay can make the step up and that is to try him out

My only reservation is that the step up to Test level can sometimes be daunting or in Botham's case his natural metier.

For some people the rigours of Test cricket can seem like battle fatigue and Crawley seems to need a rest. The new squad looks very exciting.
