Another terror attack

Just been listening to Radio 4 while in the shower. They had a leader of 'Prevent' on (annual budget £49 million). He casually dropped into the conversation that there had been about 9,000 referrals last year! How many thousands more are out there?

8,778. Of which:

  • ‘Extreme Right-Wing’ concerns accounted for 21% (1,798) of referrals, higher than those related to ‘Islamist Extremism’ (10%; 870); compared with the previous year, the proportion of referrals for ‘Extreme Right-Wing’ concerns increased (up from 19%; 1,314 of 6,921), while the proportion for ‘Islamist Extremism’ decreased (down from 13%; 913 of 6,921)

  • the majority of referrals that went on to be adopted as a Channel case were for ‘Extreme Right-Wing concerns’ (612 out of 1464 (total specified); 42%); while 226 (15%) were for concerns related to ‘Islamist Extremism’.

Some rather nasty comments coming from people linked to the Green Party about police violence. They are on their way to becoming the new nasty party.

The animals who committed these acts of violence were fortunate, most western countries the police would have just shot them. The are lucky to be alive.

It does seem that the Green Party is now becoming more about what goes on in other countries than in their prime are of saving the planet.

Unfortunately people will ignore this and I expect the Greens to do well in the elections, so Polanksi and crew will just carry on, nothing to see here.....

What we don't know is how many of this referrals should not have been made. I suspect that many come from Teachers and social workers who maybe concerned about behaviour but does that rise to the level of a serious threat.

There is a huge difference between someone downloading bomb making manuals and ordering dangerous stuff and someone posting hurty words or viewing Andrew Tate.

So simple numbers may not tell the full story.

So, the system is good at preventing right wing terrorism but not Islamic terrorism, judging by the number of the latter incidents that take place compared to the former, which seem to be rare or nonexistent.

Exactly.

There are thousands of young people who daily carry knives (some even guns) are involved in gangs, street violence and drug related crime. They are not referred to Prevent by teachers or social workers or others.

You would have thought the ones that were taken on as full cases (the second bullet point) should give a pretty clear indication.

How many of the 'Extreme Right-Wing' referrals went on to kill or injure people compared to the Islamist Extremism' referrals?

"right wing extremism" these days amounts to egg throwing and trampling on flower beds. Whereas the left wing extremism is stabbing people, shooting people and blowing up people.

I'm not saying the police were wrong. But you either play by the rules , or not.
Are you OK?

The guy had just stabbed two people. He is lucky to be alive. He deserved a bullet never mind a kick.

Imagine turning up to an incident like this armed with a taser, pepper spray and some handcuffs.

This guy was literally found guilty yesterday.

My understanding is that Prevent as the name implies is a process to stop people becoming terrorists rather than actually stopping fully formed terrorists (although I believe they have done that).

Therefore a certain degree of guesswork is involved as the authorities have to speculate will person A's interest in .....mean he is on that path or is this some over sensitive teacher not using the correct channels to highlight a behaviour problem which could be handled by the school and the parents.

So the process is subjective and who is making these decisions. We often hear of an actual terrorist who was referred to the Prevent programme and they either dropped it or failed to act. What we don't hear i how many people were incorrectly referred and then incorrectly included.

As I said before there are many thousands of young people involved in actual violence largely related to gangs and when the Met created a gang matrix (actual criminals and known associates) the usual suspects complained that it tarred innocent people and demanded it be shut down.

I guess the only the true measure is how many people go onto commit acts of terrorism or are convicted of planning to.

And this demonstrates how our institutions are infested with leftists and how they are on board with or afraid to offend Muslims.

You come on here and seriously expect us to believe that Neo Nazis are the problem.

YOU are part of the problem. Your only ambition is to obfuscate and fudge the reality of modern Britain.

I’m not whatsoever. I provided some factual context to the figure George gave about prevent and now right wing terrorism is being completely downplayed.

Do you think that lad should have just been allowed to get on with it? What do you think would have happened if he had managed to get a gun that wasn’t part of a police set up?

The reality of modern Britain is multi-faceted and you have to be grounded in reality to understand where all threats are coming from - not just looking in one direction as you and others on here seem to want to.

Can anyone tell me the last neo Nazi attack on Jews in the UK?

And can anyone tell me the last Islamic attack on Jews in the UK?

Yup....neo nazis are the problem....

They’re both massive problems. Don’t you think so?
Theoretically yes, practically in the UK , no.

We have imported a amassive problem and drastic measures will be needed to repair the damage.

Anyone who thinks all is ok, go to Tower Hamlets with an Israeli flag or wearing a Jewish hat and see what happens.
