I am not fully aware of the facts in this case but wasn’t his asylum claim already refused? If so presumably because of the discovery of the previous conviction. No doubt he then appealed and due process meant he had to remain whilst that had to be heard.

It might be very frustrating but as a law abiding country which provides safeguards for us this is sometimes the result. It would all be so easy if someone like this arrived with a label announcing he was a convicted murderer and he could just be sent back across to France, but it isn’t.

We are between a rock and a hard place where stories like this one can produce outrage but little of anything practical.

Has he served his sentence and been released on licence? If not how did he avoid it? The Egyptian authorities have questions to answer. Nobody will be happy having a convicted murderer walking the streets so if he does still have an unserved sentence and it was known about here then the very minimum that ought to have happened is for him to be kept in secure accommodation whilst his legal rights played out.

Perhaps the police should be more careful about the statements they make and stop blaming those that may react to such a reported incident when they then appear to be withholding information. They don't even say allegedly raped but made a clear statement of fact.

Perhaps the police should be more careful about the statements they make and stop blaming those that may react to such a reported incident when they then appear to be withholding information. They don't even say allegedly raped but made a clear statement of fact.

It feels like careless reporting to me because if the police stated that the woman reported being raped (second paragraph) I doubt whether they would go any further. They almost certainly said they were investigating a reported rape as they appealed for witnesses but the reporter made the same kind of assumptions that resulted in the disturbances.

If I am right I hope they are disciplined.

White British men commit plenty of rapes and that's never been denied. Importing higher risk demographics without proper screening, integration, or removal of failed claimants/ criminals makes women and girls less safe overall.

Caring about women and girls means demanding secure borders, fast track deportation for foreign offenders, ending hotel/asylum loopholes, and honest data on offender nationality/ethnicity instead of suppressing it.

Selective silence on grooming scandals or migrant over representation isn't caring it's politics over victims. Fix the inflow of unvetted illegal migrants first as it reduces risk for everyone.

He has not served any sentence in Egypt, as yet. I am not sure how his true identity came to light, as he entered under a false name. This is a good example of all illegal entrants should be detained in secure accommodation until such time as their case are processed thoroughly. If that takes years, so be it, perhaps this would act as a deterrent. A deterrent is definitely what is needed. This chap should be sent back to Egypt to face justice but he wont
