Thanks Matt. What I would say is that there are unelected people who have disproportionate power due to enormous personal wealth, allowing them to dominate others and have an influence over the way the country is governed. I have experienced this first hand and in most circumstances there’s nothing a normal person can do about them because they have endless resources to spend on unscrupulous lawyers. But there are very few of them, and whilst they can influence government / politicians, I really don’t believe that our politicians are told what to do by other hidden people.
I just believe that governing the country is incredibly difficult, especially in such a polarised time. Public finances are so restricted with massive demands on them due to the cost of Covid, the mental health epidemic, overseas wars, the ever-expanding number of medical treatments available, and so on. Government’s only chance is to create an environment where productivity can grow leading to a thriving economy which can restore the country’s wealth, but this government doesn’t get what that means. Mobs of left-wing (showing my bias) activists shout down any policies which might improve the situation. That’s why they don’t achieve anything in my view.
I would be interested in your Covid information. Again it’s not something I agree with now, but I think we all need to properly consider evidence and arguments which run against our current views.
