Main Stand redevelopment thread

You wonder why they are throwing £130m at this, when there is the Olympic Stadium in Straffoird. If it was good enough to hold an Olympics, surely its good enough to be a National Sports Centre.
There are obviously vested interests here and someone is on a nice little earner.
Even more ridiculous was building a stadium for the Olympics and redeveloping Wembley. Surely the sensible solution was to have one national stadium that could cater for athletics, football and rugby. The Stade de France (built at a fraction of the cost of Wembley and the Olympic Stadium) has managed to successfully host the Football World Cup final, Rugby World Cup final and the Olympics.

It kind of annoys me how SP leaves the fans in the dark about most things. I think the last time I actually heard him make a comment was about the European debacle back in the summer (and again another failure!). Surely he must feel some sense of shame making statements and promises that are not being kept!?

You can imagine with the current doom and gloom around rocketing inflation that no one has any confidence in predicting what the project could cost. Just another reason why it will keep getting kicked further down the road.

Like being married and being the woman 😳

For sure, and it doesn't look like this billionaire Woody guy is prepared to get his wallet out for it either

You'll have to check, but I think you get three years from Planning Permission being given , to actually start the works. And 'starting' is a broad term. It could be putting up perimeter fencing, demolition, site clearance, or could be something unseen, like underground services survey, scheduling contractors, or a man digging a small hole, wearing a fluorescent jacket.

That'll be Steve Parish, moving away from his lolly stick and silver bottle top stadium model to the construction site, armed with a spade and a wheelbarrow.

You have answered your own question. Due to the extended delays SP might be reluctant to make statements in case they are inaccurate or wrong again!
Work has started kiyts a b it like an iceberg, alot has been happening beneath the surface (eg under the Holmesdale Stand to reloate away dressing rooms) and the Whitehorse Lane End (relocating club offices away from the portacabins). Actual visible building work and more evidence of things happening will be seen over the summer.
He has a page in every home programme.

I believe if you break ground, bung in some footings, get it signed off by building control then cover it back over if you wish there is no time limit to when you start again. Two years from planning permission to do this is the clock.
This was in a domestic set up though.

What makes you say that? What is your evidence? How about if Woody likes to carry out his commitments without shouting about it?
There will be no evidence at all. I doubt Woody is aware the expectation of some, that his every move regarding Palace needs to be reported to the fan base. If not he can expect lame accusations of doing nothing.

Woody put alot of money into the new state of the art stadium for new york jets , so he will make sure this is done correctly so the ground won't be used just for football , The Americans we have are more trust worthy than with Textor , and as someone said its a iceberg you can only see the tip above the water , and also there's still matchs being played

It has crossed my mind on more than one occasion that taking the plunge on the new stand might be related to premier league status in a very direct way. Perhaps the club is waiting until we are mathematically certain to be in the EPL next year before moving to the next phase of works?
