Glasner Out

Guehi may not have agitated for a move in the sense of asking to be transferred but saying you are going to run down your contract is effectively the same thing. Put the club in a position of either selling him or letting him walk away. Either way Guehi made it clear he no longer wanted to play for Palace.

Completely within his rights of course and I hold no grudge towards him for it. He wanted more money and a higher level. Who wouldn’t?

I do get a bit fed up of all the lauding of him for being ‘professional’ that went on. He said he wanted away and then did the job he’s paid to do. That’s it
As opposed to downing tools, telling the club he wants to leave (but refusing to put in a written transfer request so he doesn't lose any money), deliberately not trying in games. testing the coach's patience by turning up late for training, refusing media duties, etc, etc, etc. These are the things players do all the time if they want a move and know another club is interested.
I think its perfectly reasonable to praise Marc for not doing any of those things. He remained professional and shirked not one single responsibility till the day he left. He also said (if the club hadn't sold him) he'd have given his all for Palace till the day his contract ran out. Again, not many players would do that knowing theres not much his existing employers can do when he is leaving anyway. But he was a total Pro till he left. I think people have every right to praise him for that in an otherwise 'badge kissing' era

How many people over they years have you seen give notice & then the work effort stops, they turn up when they have to (more or less) but other than that they are effectively just going through the motions, and that's when they are leaving within a few weeks / months, it was fairly common knowledge that Marc wouldn't sign another contract at Palace for something like 18 months & yet even with that news out there, every day he did what he had to do, performed at such a high level to remain club Captain, was surely one of the first names on the team sheet (if not the first name) & he solidified his England place -
In this world of players getting upset, sulking, downing tools , putting themselves first at the drop of a hat, for me, Marc was completely professional in what he did & the way he conducted himself, in my book that means something.

For sure you can say he was also in the team when we went on that poor run of performances, but as another poster has already said, very few emerged from that period with any credit.
Sorry Caterham, I've more or less repeated what you just said here. Felt compelled to comment before reading others! 🤣

I think whoever replaces Glasner (or even Glasner himself) will really struggle next season if Wharton and Lacroix follow Eze and Guehi and leave in the summer. Is it just Palace economics that end up repeating 1981 and 1991 whenever we manage to assemble a really good squad capable of winning things? We haven't gone full blown Southampton just yet but surely we need an excellent summer of recruitment if those two leave as well.
We only sell players when forced to or if we get a stupid offer. Thats the same as EVERY club incuding Liverpool, City, etc

True. What's your point? I wasn't inferring anything, I was simply stating that it would be hard for any manager to replicate a similar point haul with half the first team sold, whatever the circumstances or justifications.

For confirmation, when did he say he is leaving or where is it quoted. Rumours are media hype for click bait.

Just in gossip as far as I can tell.

Dyche to spurs!!🤣 cutting edge reporting
Wharton to Tooting & Mitcham next

The mainstream media. Might be bollocks though, it usually is. Hope so anyway. If Kamada is off as well that will be half of the FA Cup winning team away in just over a year. To maintain the same level of results and performances with 5 very good first teamers away is a big ask for anyone, especially without Freedman to replace them all.
Freedman was alright but even he couldn’t play in 5 positions 🤦

Yeah, and Guehi expected to leave too. Lets see the £100m+ bid and then it could happen

I do apologize, but agree with you

Unlike the Olise and Eze transfers (release clauses) and the Guehi transfer (contract running out) Palace are in a massively strong position with regards Adam Wharton. He is very young, this summer he will still have 3 years left on his contract and he does not have a release clause in it.
This is one where (assuming Adam doesn't aggitate for a move-I dont believe he will) we will see how ambitious Palace are. We are under no pressure to sell him at all therefore the price must be set at a minimum of £100m. When you look at older players with less potential (like Caciaedo) who went for more than that a few years ago I think thats reasonable. If no one is willing to pay that kind of money the club should make it clear he is going nowhere and Wharton himself told as much.

Wharton doesn’t affect a game like Olise, Eze, Guehi. Many games he’s miles off it, with no goals and few assists. £100m must be fantasy land.
He’s a ‘nice player’, sometimes, but the hype seems ridiculous.

He does change games. Usually with one simple pass. I think you need to wake up and actually watch him.
You think £100m is fantasy land? Well if Man United or anyone else agrees with you they wont be signing him will they? Palace hold all the cards on this one and if the club dont want to sell why shouldn't they demand a huge offer? If someone wants to buy something of mine that I dont want to sell they have to offer way above market value if they want it. This is the way it works. If not bye bye

Selling the Mrs is a bit illegal you know 😳

You’re a Lairy keunt , when someone doesn’t share opinion, aye mate.
Seen him loads. Watched him live in all the European games home and away, haven’t seen him change many games with 1 simple pass, where’s his assists ?
Elliot Anderson is miles in front of him regarding England, what do you think he’s worth, £180m?
Other people can rate him how they want.
To me , compared to Olise, Eze and Guehi he’s miles off it.
Don’t mind him as a player, but I’m not on the ‘Wharton hype train’ , if one of the big clubs are, that’s great.

We'll see then wont we. Lets revisit this page if Wharton is sold THIS summer. With 3 years left on his contract. It'll be £100m. Minimum. If Parish holds out and Wharton doesn't ask to move which I believe will happen.
In terms of how you rate him thats your opinion but comparing him to Anderson is naive. They are different player regardless of them occupying the same position. You criticize me because I dont agree with you but use foul language wrapped up in bad spelling to try and insult me yet you seem to think you are in some way more relevant? 🤣 Learn some vocabulary or switch to Millwall 😆
