Iran

Trump (and Israel) apparently need to do more bombing of Iran and its facilities
  • Oil prices jump and markets slide after Donald Trump says US will hit Iran "extremely hard" in a primetime televised speech from the White House
  • In his address, Trump called on allies to "build up the courage" to secure shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, arguing the US doesn't need it

Meanwhile Israel continues its expansion, killing civilians, grabbing land in Lebanon and Palestinian West Bank famland.

The tail seemingly wagging the dog

You have obviously never been in a military.

War means innocent people die and people wash their hands of it.

There is no such thing as goodies and baddies once a war starts.
Most people who die in war probably don't deserve it......wrong place, wrong time....In effect it's a war of baddies v your side's baddies.....You hope that your side does less horrible stuff than your enemy....but human beings under stress are not saints, they are more likely to be sinners.

Still some militarizes are obviously better than others and perhaps I'm biased but I think the British are amongst those with the highest standards.

There are winners and losers and those that write the books about it.
There are sides you'd prefer to win due to your moral reasoning certainly
Unless a war is fought on agreed terms there is no such thing as a noble loser (outside of subversive narratives)

Goodies and baddies is what gets sold to smooth brains.

Weren’t your eyes apparently too sh*t to be allowed in?

surely the proper answer was that anyone left of Hiltler was blind.

Having reviewed your posts in the last weeks, unless your postion has changed willing to commit our poor British white kids but not yourself. For me that says alot.

Stuff is cyclic, but you intellect rerminds me a couple of decades ago a HOL far right supporter who had enough of the UK/immegration and was going to Bahrain.
What rubbish is this?
No poor British White kids will be doing anything.

If Britain were to become involved in military action, it would be professional pilots and sailors doing the job they signed up for.

If you are going to enter this discussion, at least say something that makes sense.

To suggest I'm 'far right' only confirms your inability to think.

A negotiation of any type with the USA or Israel is simply not possible, neither of them would keep to anything or ever do.

The USA just tore up the previous treaty with Iran which they had kept to.

Their decapitated leader actually issued a fatwah against the development of a nuclear weapon on religious grounds.

Neither the US or Israel recognise the international court, at the UN they are totally isolated, and act illegally with little objection from western governments.

America is committing war crimes against civilians including the destruction of a girl's school with 160 little girls and previously a gym with 19 others, also bombing hospitals, schools and residential areas, people going to work.

The Lancet - Nov 25 - USA sanctions over a 30 year period from 1990 have resulted in the starvation of an estimated 38 million people.

You actually believe that Iran could be trusted?

A regime that killed 40 thousand or more of its own people, funds terrorism and treats women like dogs.

If I was in charge, I'd deport people like you first. Preferably to the middle of the Atlantic.

Whether Iran can be trusted or not isn't under discussion in the post you've quoted. It's about whether we can trust the US and Israel which, going by their recent actions, we almost certainly can't.

I don't think anyone can be trusted in global politics. Trust is not something humans do easily and neither is being trustworthy.

What matters is whose side you are on and why. I know the answer to both of those questions. Everything else is blah blah.

Please don't tell me you're on Trump's side.... 🙄

Trump is the President of the USA. They are our greatest and most powerful ally. It kind of goes with the territory of picking a side. Our side.

Most of what Trump says is misdirection, hyperbole or tit for tat politics.
Europe has snubbed him in this conflict because... Trump. He has responded by being disparaging about our military, or lack of it. That's how it works.
He is systematically destroying an enemy of the free world. I have no problem with the principle. We await the results.

Fuel shortages, double digit food inflation, double digits wiped off pensions and investments, businesses and households buckling further with energy costs, and an enemy now more motivated and more likely to attack us than before.

Slow hand claps all round.

How much money have Trump associates now made from market manipulation?
One minute he says something positive and the oil price drops and markets rise.
Then last night he does a u turn and says action will increase again and oil goes up and markets down.
His is playing the markets and a small number who seem to be able to predict the future and making fortunes.
Will his next announcement be one designed to lower the oil price? Wouldn’t that be a surprise.

So we don't do anything because there will be some negative consequences?

That would negate the whole process of policy making.

I see your point but it ignores the last line in my post.

It isn't comparing apples, but I will give you a contrast.

Borneo 1960s. Sukarno's Soviet backed attempt to seize the whole island. The UK defended Brunei and Malayan Borneo with highly specialist jungle trained forces used sparingly. However, its main weapon was hearts and minds. It won over the locals meaning the Indonesians didn't have a friend to support them. Winner: UK with relatively nominal casualties.

Vietnam 1960s. The North's Chinese backed revolution. The US propped up a deeply corrupt and wholly unpopular regime with little thought of what the minds thought or hearts felt. They gave a maximum of zero consideration to winning over the population but instead opted for resource overkill sending in hundreds and thousands of troops and carpet bombing the country and its neighbours back to the stone age. Winner: Communist Vietnam with millions dead, the knock on consequences of Cambodia and decades of regional instability and a superpower humiliated and in shock for a generation.

Have most people heard of Borneo? Nope. Good.

There are always different options. Shock and awe only looks good in the press as Netenyahu's unwavering popularity in Israel demonstrated throughout his ethnic cleansing exercise in Gaza.
