Marc Guéhi

He was very neat and tidy as one of the two holding players, mostly fairly anonymous which doesn't mean he was doing badly in that role. Played a minor but key little sharp first time pass when Palmer was dispossessed that set the counter attack on it's way to scoring their goal.

One great cross field pass that O'Reilly misjudged and should have led to a second goal

His only mistake was fouling Rodgers on the edge of the box so that could have been a big error but the free kick was wasted by Rodgers

Pretty good, like he was playing for us this time last year. He obviously likes March to May. Japan were playing 3-4-3 and working the counter attack and counter press very well so all very famiilar to Daichi. More chance of him getting a World Cup medal (bronze!) - then any of the England players on this showing.

But only a friendly, though more encouraging for Japan than England.
And on Saturday at Hampden, he had about a 20 minute cameo. He played a major part in the winning goal, carrying the ball into the Scottish area and putting in a low cross which the centre forward laid back for his teammate to score. So not quite an assist, but as good as one, almost a mirror image of his assist v Larnaca.

Also played at least one good long diagonal ball (as he did last night).

Some club will get a relative bargain in the summer after Japan shine in the summer, but probably not a premier league club. It doesn't suit him. Maybe back to Italy?

He has rarely delivered for Palace, and end product ultimately very very disappointing, but what he had to give was part of a great period of our clubs history. I'll look back on Daichi with fond memories though he was never the influence he could have been and mostly with regret at the hate thrown his way. He's almost gone. But he was part of something great.

He got stick because his lack of end product cost us £100k a week, no other reason really although perhaps also the fact that expectations were higher than what he delivered.

He’ll go on to do ok for some other team, most likely Glasner’s next outfit on a high salary with no transfer fee.

The Cup squad has more or less been dismantled, time to move on and replace outgoings with some decent incoming players. That salary will be useful.
