The time is getting near to final squads of 26 being announced for the World Cup. I expect this year, we will have our biggest representation ever, even though Eze and Guehi have left. I think there will be 9 Palace players there.

At the moment I would agree 9, possibly 10 depending how Tuchel feels about taking Wharton, Anderson, and Jordan Henderson for a single midfield position.

Baring injury definitely going (9) - Henderson, Pino, Richards, Kamada, Guessand, Sarr, Lerma, Munoz, Strand Larsen
Potentials (4) - Wharton, Goodman, Lacroix, Mateta
Unlikely but could still go if major injuries (4) - Benitez, Sosa, Mitchell, Riad

Could make a case that Mateta and Lacroix probably fall into the last category. Also, baring Mitchell, those in the last category would need to have a major improvement in both playing time and form to be considered.

Riad played the full 90 minutes for Morocco v Ecuador on Friday. Looks like he’s fit and going to the World Cup. Good news for us as well….fingers crossed!

Agree with the first 9 mentioned but i would also add Riad. I read that the Morocco trainer was delighted that Riad was fit and getting game time with Palace. I don't think that Wharton will make it onto the plane. He just hasn't performed well for England yet although he did make the foul leading to the goal last Friday. I suspect he won't feature on Tuesday against Kamada & Co.
It's a double-edged sword for me; good that Palace get represented and boost reputation but then they all come back being convinced that they need to play Champions League.

Riad will be going and probably Lacroix

Wharton has left the camp along with 7 others. I'm not too sure he will make the plane.

Looks like he's playing today against Colombia as are Lerma & Munoz for Los Cafeteros
Lacroix didn't have much to do as France's second XI easily handled Colombia. I think he only made the squad due to injury but I still reckon that he is more likely to make the squad than Mateta. France are my tip to win it.
Munoz had a shocker, defensively, and Lerma provided one of his patented high and wide shots

Definites if fit ( 11 ) - Henderson, Pino, Richards, Kamada, Guessand, Sarr, Lerma, Munoz, Strand Larsen Mateta

50/50s ( 2 ) Wharton, Lacroix

Outsiders if major injuries ( 3 ) Benitez, Mitchell, Riad.

Mateta to have a great tournament despite the woes of this season .

Not sure Mateta is nailed on. He only really got a chance before because his purple patch aligned with lots of French injuries.

I think because he did so well when picked he will get the nod just .
Will see. He's miles behind the rest of hte forward line from a quality perspective, but would offer something different.

I cant work out if its better for us for him to get picked or not.

Picked and performed well would be great for value.

But not picked might mean he goes and gets that op, and is recovers in time to be sold in the summer window.

Kamada, Guessand and Lerma may not be Palace players when the World Cup comes around so we can forget them.
All Lacroix needed was to be given a chance and it came against Brazil where he gave an accomplished second half display. He played the full 90 against a side rated second in South America behind Argentina although Brazil are challenging for this spot. He is likely to be called up to the squad for the USA.
Chadi Riad played the full 90 for Morocco against Ecuador and may be in place for another start tomorrow against Paraguay. At 22 he is a great prospect despite his previous injuries and should also be on the plane to the World Cup.
