Iran

You're too dim to understand the risk of Iran getting nukes. You really think that would not be an ambition for them?

Religious loons with nukes. Our worst nightmare.

Talking of religious loons. You need to take a chill pill.

It's funny because he'll believe all that bizarre far fetched conspiracy bollocks but he won't believe that an oil rich Islamic state run sponsor of terror who has a proven ability to produce long range missiles, who has pledged to destroy the USA, UK and Israel, has nuclear power stations and is known to be on the path of uranium enrichment, the essential step in making a nuclear weapon to use against us is a threat, no it is NOT POSSIBLE FAR FETCHED FANTASY BULLSHIT.

Show me their pledge to destroy the UK, so I can believe it.

I'll wait.

We aren't in the west then? They didn't call us "little satan"?

Is that your excuse? "Not us" but obviously the USA and Israel?

Doesn't get you off fella, my point is accurate

Ha ha ha.

Dead cat trick, "ooo look there".

No. You constantly post utter waffle and heresay as the truth. Everyone knows that Iran consider us an enemy, especially as we were in there as part of the empire nicking their oil for decades.

You are posting this as a distraction because you are called out on your waffle again.

Oh boy did we screw them well over a barrel literally for their own oil in the past ..
Not surprised Iran aka Persia haven’t ask for reparations ..

No overnight improvement in the Iran situation.
Shell CEO says fuel rationing a reality by April.
Trump says Iranian leaders are too scared to do his peace deal, which is a bizzare statement as they are extremists who everyone knew from the start would not surrender.
The options are either a peace deal that suits Iran, which might be possible, and i don't really care what spin Trump puts on it about it being a victory, or a ground invasion by US troops, which would be a disaster and with the real possibility of Iran going down fighting and destroying everything they can as they do so.
One problem I see is that any deal will probably involve an agreed joint statement of the peace deal, and it would take Henry Kissinger to do that, because the rhetoric from each side is the polar opposites of what the other side say is happening.
There needs to be peace talks now and an agreed ceasefire. I cant see any independent global leader up to the job other than Putin.
Those insider dealers have made a massive killing on this war. This will come under close scrutiny after the war.
I would imagine a fair few of our pension funds would be in a better position as some may not be. Hopefully all the morality police will return their profits to the poor Iranians to rebuild their lives!

If you are lucky enough to be in a defined scheme like civil service / police / NHS etc you are fine - if you have a private scheme then if you were on the brink of retiring or retired you will feel it as your pot will have taken a blow. I'm 62 and mine has gone down 20% in a month. Have to just hope it recovers.
As i said right at the start of this, i couldn't care about the plight of Iranians. Harsh but true. Any refugees should be taken in by fellow muslim states who are themselves minted though their oil revenues.

the pledge, by Islamists, to destroy the UK is played our on our streets every week. Or have you not been keeping up with events ?
And anyway, Iran (and their buddies) don't even need nukes & missiles to carry out their evil. They are doing quite a job with knackers driving stolen vans and wielding knives.

yes but it's not a question of money. Gender politics is driving much of this. Who wants a hundred thousand young men trundling into the country ?

Mine took a dive but not using it for a few years. Yes if you were in the verge of a draw down or an annuity it will affect you but any given moment in time can cause this drop. There have been plenty that can’t be aimed at trump tbh!

There is a lot of ignorance shown of the Islamic world, and geopolitics in general, on here. The Islamic World is much less united than the 'West'.

It's the sort of ignorance that lead us to participate in an idiotic Iraqi invasion because of Saudi Arabian hijackers, while continuing to supply Saudi Arabia with arms. Make it make sense.

The domestic terrorism you refer to is loosely linked to ISIS. ISIS and Iran are fierce ideological and strategic enemies, with Iran countering the Sunni extremist group to protect its regional influence, particularly in Iraq and Syria. While ISIS seeks to eliminate Shi'is and destabilize Iran, Iran has deployed military advisors, provided funding, and mobilized Shiite militias to combat ISIS, viewing them as a direct threat to its borders.

Iran is no saint. It funds Hezballoh and Hamas as proxies for its ideological campaign against Israel, and USA as Israel's ally. So, the current war against Iran is in Israel's interest, not ours. Iran actually acts to confront ISIS.

So bombing Iran because on the basis of confronting ISIS inspired terrorism in the UK is sheer idiocy.

There are also schism issues given the refugees will be Shia and the hosts Sunni.

Incidentally, and on a separate but related topic, Trump has once again sought to ridicule this country by saying our fighter jets are like "toys" compared to USAF.

Firstly, why did he need to say this at all?

Secondly, he's wrong. The F35s are first tier fighter jets.

Thirdly, they are the same planes flown by the USAF.

Fourthly, I can't imagine Lockheed were happy with this characterization, being these are planes made by them in the USA. I wonder if they are Republican party funders?

On a further side point, I am unclear how posters on here can continue to support Trump and claim to be proud Brits when he makes swipe after swipe at us. And before you say it, he isn't attacking Labour and Starmer; he is attacking us.

Private companies often exceed Government style pensions Shell was renowned for a generous scheme.

I have a drawdown pension it is impacted all the time by market turmoil. However the alternative an annuity was so poor I took the risk.

A commander of anti terrorism police stated in interview last week that there have been about 20 incidents that they have had to investigate connected to Iran.

However, he did not specify whether they were serious, how "connected" to Iran or even how credible.

Iran do not like us. We are "Little Satan". However, the risk to our assets in the region is serious. The risk to this country is negligible.

The real risk is from Sunni Muslim groups funded by wealthy citizens of our Gulf allies and inspired by twisted clerics; or lone nutters fed by internet rot. Iran have nothing to do with it.

Your final paragraph is the key one that is not well understood on here.

Sure, Iran don't like us. Half the world don't like us. Not an excuse to launch missiles at them.
Calling us a little Satan was a tad mean. Although, when you look at Starmer, Boris, Mandelson and much of our political establishment, they may have had a point.
But Iran are no angels themselves, so pot and kettle.

Our police have been dealing with domestic disputes between rival Iranian groups that have played out on UK streets. I suspect a lot of reports are to do with that, although that may change now we have been seen to support the attack on them.
But ..... to be frank, I don't believe a word our police force say. These are the same people who make arrests for flags, t-shirts, silent prayers and hurty words. The day they get their own house in order is the day they might get taken seriously.
