You think that’s being nice? It’s condescending and insulting. Although I doubt you will see why. You need to understand that the average person visiting this section for the first time is going to be surprised, even shocked, at the attitudes they will encounter. So you ought not be yourself surprised when they react. The gang here just can’t handle someone pushing back and very quickly resort to insults and bullying.

It’s people like me, whose political position has been centralist for as long as I can remember, who call out the fascism and racism creeping into some of the comments. There are many on the right who hold positions that deserve respect and with whom a reasonable debate is possible. There are others who don’t. It’s just unfortunate that so many of the latter seem to wash up and get stranded here.
