A reasonable question, I think. What kind of question is that?
Glasner he picks the teams.

A reasonable question, I think.
It may well be that OG chooses not to use Devenney but has he actually said that the player is only "A good championship level midfielder"? If not, one might ask, reasonably, where this assessment has come from.
Ok. Just to clarify.I would have thought it obvious that it's my assessment as to why he isn't picking him.
It would be quite a foolish comment for a manager to put out in public for a member of his squad.

Though I would say that not playing Devenney doesn't necessarily mean that he believes Devenney's only a "good championship player". There may be any number of reasons, I suppose.
I'm not sure about him, really. I wouldn't even know what his best position would be. Midfield scrapper? He is young, though and definitely an honest player.
Great penalty taker.
Yeah. I have him tagged as a proper 'Palace' player: as honest as the day is long. It's just my guess as to what Glasner could be thinking. I'm not saying I'm right, just my suspicion.
It does fit in with my personal view of Devenny. However, as you imply he's a decent player and he has a future in the game either in the Championship or lower placed Premier league teams......which isn't the case for most academy players.
Maybe he will continue to develop and prove people like me wrong.
If we keep the same formation next season I think the best thing Devenney can do for his career is to leave for the Championship. There is a player there but he needs to settle in one position and get game time.I think one of the biggest issues we have with Devenney, is not really knowing what his best position is.
Granted he's not played much of late, but when he was, it was CM one week, wing back the next, wide 10 the next.
Gut would say that he's more of a box-to-box center mid, but thats not how Glasner sets up his midfield.
Regardless, he's young, clearly has some talent, and is a useful utility player.

Opinions are like a-holes etc and everyone has one - interesting to hear you say you think he has done well at wing back. For Devenny watch Northern Ireland. He plays wing back for them and takes set pieces. He has been pretty good in all the matches I've seen.
He gave great effort like he always does and his set pieces were decent but as you say he was clearly targeted and exposed.Opinions are like a-holes etc and everyone has one - interesting to hear you say you think he has done well at wing back.
To me he has been energetic and very much a hardworking team player. But time and time again in the Germany and (especially) the Slovakia away games I felt he was exposed defensively.

This was one thing that hugely bothered me. He was good at set pieces for Northern Ireland and we were taking terrible set pieces with him on the pitch. He gave great effort like he always does and his set pieces were decent but as you say he was clearly targeted and exposed.
