Ashes cricket

The rewards in English cricket don't reflect the results.

It's always annoyed me.

The gravy train just continues.

Well, I've said it before, but for the first time since it became possible I didn't pay to watch England on their away tour.

Unless I see signs that suggest proper change I won't be paying to watch again this winter.

It's like the BBC license......they act like it's an entitlement......I can accept a losing England cricket team, what I can't accept is how well rewarded they are for pumping out average to below average dross.

Time for a refresh surely, but the ECB sticking with McCullum, fatty Key and Captain Stokes.

They are about as boring as the Premier League.

🙂
I'm very much in favour of a refresh but that implies we have better options which we certainly do not have that is why we retain those we have in place.

Boycott averaged 47 and bored people.

I wouldn't mind an opener who averaged 47 and bored me.

Hell, give me two of them.....we have more than enough excitement in the middle order.
Test cricket is exciting to those who understand it.
T20 and the dreaded 100 are designed to appeal to those who are excited by seeing the ball flying in all directions. Why does everything have to be for people with the attention span of a mayfly with ADD?

Exactly mate, I only watch the test matches because it’s proper cricket. T20 and even the one day game now is just all smash bang wallop and mainly watched by the play station brigade🤣

I watched a bit of a T20 game in the South Africa franchise tournament and Heinrich Klaasen was smashing every ball for six. The first two were exciting to watch but after that it got boring

There were problems (to say the least) with team culture. Alternatives should be found, as a minimum. The more I think about it, it's not even the results. It's the culture surrounding England. Other sides are far more serious - and better. The better sides would not put up with the behaviour we've been seeing.

To be fair, I did go to a Kent T20 a few years ago at Tunbridge Wells and Darren Stevens banged a whole over of Sixies and they all came flying towards our stand and i have to admit it was quite exciting at the time and amusing watching people, ourselves included ducking for cover. But I supppse any sport live is more enjoyable than watching it on the TV

True it can be good to watch sometimes but so can five-a-side football. Generally it's too much a batsman's game (batter should stay in the chip shop).

I banged a load of sixes back in the 90s.

Thankfully I don't think you were watching me though.

That would have been very weird.
