What are you talking about, any Iranian navy vessel is a target, immediate threat or not is irrelevant, it's degrading the ability to wage war at sea.

That's sufficient reason, you seem to be suggesting the US has to explain every time it does something in this war.

Critical that risk to shipping through Straits of Hormuz is reduced as much as possible.

The right have the moral high ground after Kirk.

We don't have to 'claim it'.

The left is full of mentally ill people and many online Kirk reactions were a reminder of that (though I remember some quality heartfelt reactions on the left as well, notable for how few they were).......As for this post, Trump's an arsehole and no one's denying it.

Yeah it's a stupid post by Trump.

There is a however massive difference in my opinion between some on the left who were outright celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk in a targeted political murder and the natural death of an 81 year old who spent years leading a vendetta against Trump.

The left celebrated political violence whereas this Trump post stupid that it is sounds more of a relief. Its definitely not the same as the leftists celebrating Charlie Kirk's actual assassination.

It’s not simply a stupid post. It’s degrading to the office of President. It’s a disgusting thing to say about a man who was universally regarded as holding the highest integrity.

Trump isn’t comparable with “some on the left”. I saw no celebration of Kirk’s death. Indeed it was striking how those who opposed his politics were outspoken in the condemnation of his murder. Nevertheless I am sure there must have been some. There are stupid people in every grouping. Trump though is not just a stupid supporter. He is President. He ought to be setting a much better example than this.

The real point though is that it wasn’t typical. There was a great deal of sympathy and respect shown for an awful event. The difference in political outlook being unimportant.

You seeing it as an opportunity to just throw mud does you no credit at all.
