That's the thing, it seems like the ref did know the rules and applied them correctly.

This 'forfeit for walking off' rule is something they made up subsequently.

I don't think that's the case. Not that I know where to find any evidence to back that up!

its interpretation of the rules we had 300 pages of it at the start of the season or have we all forgot , they was wrong to walk off simple , was not in the spirit of the game or comp , image if all teams done it because they dont agree with a decision mmmmm

it was a error of the ref should have told them they leave the pitch they forfeit the game , we have ref decisions overturned regarding cards , seems he didnt follow the rule , there for made a gross error , its a can of worms as we found to our cost

I thought there was a law stating that the referees decision was final.

not regarding that its a big rule that teams must follow , and as they brought the comp in to disrepute the Goving body can remove the score line and declare the other team the winners

Our domestic game is riddled with superstitions that are arguably more ridiculous.

• Barry Fry: As manager of Birmingham City, he allegedly urinated on the four corners of St Andrew's stadium to break a 100-year-old curse
• John Terry: Reportedly used the same shin pads for 10 years, parked in the same spot, and listened to the same CD.
• Harry Kane: Prefers putting on all left-side gear first and has historically used "no-shave" streaks after scoring.
• Aaron Ramsdale: Follows a strict right-side-first dressing routine and removes a glove to shake hands due to a family tradition.
• Paul Ince: Consistently waited to be the last player out of the tunnel and put his shirt on while walking out.
• Gary Lineker: Never took shots during warm-ups to avoid "wasting" goals, and changed shirts at halftime if he hadn't scored.
• Phil Jones: Determined which sock to put on first based on whether they were home or away.

A Referee cannot inform a team they will forfeit the match if they leave the field of play, he can however, abandon the match, he didn't, he got the rest of the match played to the finish. Morocco's penalty award was then taken & missed, then Senegal went & scored what was the winning goal. Match ended, winner's declared & everybody goes home.

What's happened now is unprecedented, i wonder whether Senegal will take this to CAS, either way. it's going to rumble on.
