New formation.......

Glasner is unwilling to change his formation (despite it obviously not working), so what would be your guys formation and who would you play?

I would go for a 4 - 2 - 1 - 3

Henderson

Munoz Lacroix Riad Mitchell

Hughes Kamada/Lerma

Wharton

Sarr Larsen Guessand

Subs: Benitez (GK), Canvot, Richards, Lerma, Pino, Mateta, Johnson

I think with this line-up it allows Wharton to play further forward and feed our attackers. It also accommodates Munoz and Mitchell to go forward if needed, with Hughes and Kamada/Lerma able to do defensive duties when this happens. Larsen needs more support up top as I'm confident he'll put his chances away if he has the service from Sarr and Guessand in closer proximity.

(For me Kamada starts if he's in form, but he looked like the crappy Kamada of old in his last game)

I would do something similar but putting Lacroix in for Richards. Keep him as sub for when we want to slow the game down to a crawl. Also I would sell Mitchell or upgrade him if possible. Rotate Guessand and Johnson depending on who looks like scoring/supplying SL in training. Rotate Hughes and Kamada too until he leaves at the end of the season with Mateta.

If we continue to struggle with loads of possession but no end result up front then it is time to radically alter our tactics. Unfortunately, Glasner, like Hodgson, has no alternative plans but it has been obvious to all he is now a busted flush and should be axed and give Paddy a chance to ring the changes.a
Palace are so predictable and embarrassing, it is blatantly obvious we must change, Even more so if we don't beat Larnaca and leave us with little to play for the reast of the season.

This is similar to what I would do, however I would play Wharton in your Sarr roll and play 2 defensive mids and play Sarr as a winger.

————————-HENDERSON———————-
Munoz—Richard’s—Lacriox—Mitchell
———-Lerma————Hughes——-
—Sarr——Wharton—Guessand-
——————Larson————-
This should give us width and the fall back and winger making overlapping runs and Wharton can feed forward passes without the need to be so defensive minded. This also allows for Pino and Johnson to come on later in the game when players are tired.

Wow, I completely forgot about Lacroix lol. Premature Alzheimer's I think. Agree completely and in fact Lacroix as captain.

4-2-3-1

Works perfectly to suit either Mateta or Strand-Larsen as lone target man.

We have an abundance of good attacking midfielders, and this allows us to play 3 of them instead of 2. Choose out of Sarr, Pino, Guessand, and Johnson.
2 holding mids out of Wharton, Hughes, Lerma and Decoure once fit.
Traditional back 4 which suits Mitchell. Lacoix and Richards at CB. We aren't forced to play Canvot or Riad who don't seem quite ready.
The only downside is we lose something of Munoz's attacking threat if he reverts to Full Back.

Just realised you already picked the same team and formation I did
I didn't see yours, honest!
Great minds, etc 🙂

🤣 I would hope with that formation the ball would be up there end more.

I'm with this although Hughes does give me high blood pressure with his lack of discipline. Maybe Lerma in that spot?

Hughes is an all round better player though.

Have you considered that it's not always a lack of discipline, but instead an intentional, considered decision? To thwart a dangerous attack? Or to stamp authority on a game? Obviously I don't know, but I remember him talking about professional fouls a few years ago. I'd certainly rather that than let opposition teams waltz through us untouched.

Point taken. He's a better footballer than Lerma but is just a walking talking yellow/red card.

I think you are spot on regarding Hughes. He takes a lot of yellow cards for the team. One of my biggest frustrations with Kamada is that he will never take a yellow for the team and often lets the opposition run past him rather than taking a booking. If he does get a yellow it’s more likely from a mistimed tackle rather than deliberately breaking up play.
