Joey Barton

Off topic - but it kind of is. Their campaign is against UK based companies the group alleges manufacture and supply weapons used by the Israeli military in the Gaza genocide. As well as the fact that the RAF has assisted Israel.
You don't have to like them. But people have been arrested for wearing Plasticine Action t-shirts!!
And no, that wasn't a typo! They got around the ban by saying 'Plasticine' instead of 'Palestine'. It didn't help because the plod arrested them anyway, including pensioners and disabled who were minding their own business. That's failed state stuff ....especially when there are rapists and child molesters being ignored by the plod.
Yes seems ridiculous, but the organisation damaged UK military aircraft (not a good idea whatever the circumstances) and caused criminal damage breaking into a factory and wielding sledgehammers at people, so hardly peaceful protests. If people want to support them then they are aligning themselves with those criminal actions. Seems overkill but the organisation has been declared a terrorist organisation for reasons we don’t know.

Former England footballer and pundit Eni Aluko has been awarded more than £300,000 damages and legal costs after suing Joey Barton for libel over social media posts.

People were arrested on different occasions for different 'offences'. The ones you described were the most serious.
On other occasions, pensioners were arrested for no more than wearing t-shirts.

a bit like Roy Keane, joey Barton seems to have had a lot of bad luck. Especially regarding the people he found in his immediate environs. And all that bad luck seems to be a repeat behaviour ?

Damaged people with reputations, tend to attract hostility from even more damaged people wishing to enhance their own reputations. Especially when they are famous.

I'm pretty sure the sledgehammer attack people were let off. They attacked people and got off.

C'mon Barton has form right back from when he was at City and stubbed out a cigar on another player's eye.....

He has championed himself as a bastion of free speech and has been feted by some for doing this but he has possibly been badly advised and clearly has a bit of a temper on him.

He needs help as much as anything else as he looks like he struggles to deal with certain aspects of life.

He should get off on mental health grounds.

He should get off on mental health grounds.

Ah yes, mental health.
Unfortunately some people are just violent thugs. Barton is one of them as his previous shows. Short temper and the red mist. Comes from a bad family from one of the s*** holes of Europe. Sad but true. Violent thugs are better off inside for at least a spell.
He should also be forced to do community service in addition. As a well known racsist and misogynist he could be sent to a Muslim women’s refuge to help out doing the gardening.

Have you heard him talk?
He's actually pretty coherent and well informed on a variety of issues - much more than the average footballer. Much more so than many of his detractors too.

I don't believe he is racist, others may differ. Falling out with an ethnic person does not make one a racist.
He is Anti-woke for sure. Misogynist maybe. He has done some stupid, nasty things for sure. On other occasions he seems a victim of his own reputation. This latest incident seeems like the latter. He was attacked with a baseball bat, so there will be a strong case for self-defence.

You are right on that. Let off by a jury, which will no doubt be used as a reason for scrapping right to trial by jury.

But it is also true that the Met have acted fairly disgracefully in their handling of peaceful protests by PE.
Peaceful people were arrested for holding signs saying 'I oppose genocide'.

I'm not sure self defence will help him. The law is clear. if the guy came at him and then him and he and his mate disarmed him, then battering the attacker into serious injury by way of retribution isn't allowed. Reasonable and proportionate are the words and the judge will direct the jury accordingly.
A home jury in Liverpool is also unlikely to help him based on his last trial there, and if guilty he will also have his suspended reactivated. Must be looking at 2 years at least.

Retribution?
Or immobilising the attacker to prevent him continuing an attack and causing serious injury?
Presumably there were other objects in the vicinity the attacker may have been able to use, even if he lost his bat.

It's a fine line. I don't think the law is necessarily clear.

His parents did not raise him properly, they have left society to deal with a human ticking time bomb, far too many parents do not use the word NO.

Do you think that was simply to pretend that they crack down on left wing protests too?

No, I think they meant it.
Or at least it is what those who pull the strings intended.

If we forget tired notions of right and left for a moment, they will brutally supress anyone who threatens their interests or goals.
The question to ask is what is it about the 'Raise the Colours' movement and 'Palestine Action' that antagonises them so, even though on the face of it they seem to have little in common.

Similarly, why do they 'police' some protest movements so softly that they virtually join in with them as part of the 'protest' - BLM, Trans-rights, etc.
