Manchester United vs. Crystal Palace match thread

Very frustrating watch. I'm a little disappointed in Canvot napping on the Sesko goal. Very similar to Macclesfield in my opinion. The lack of decisiveness to get that header is a shame after all the improvement or comfort level he has been showing.

I can't be too upset with him as he is growing and this game was decided at the red. Refs in so inconstent its maddening.

Tottenham hasn't won this year, last win was against CP in December and now we get to play them next week potentially without Max. Hope appeal is successful

According to IFAB Law 13, a free kick is awarded at the specific spot where the foul occurred. If the holding offense begins outside the penalty area, it is a direct free kick, regardless of where the player falls.

So there you have it. Lecroix started holding the player back OUTSIDE the area, so NO PENALTY.
CHEATS comes to mind.

It's almost as if he wanted to give the penalty. Absolute joke.

Can't wait for the official apology in a few days time when they say "Sorry lads, we got this one wrong too".

Foul yes, penalty no, contact started outside the penalty area, you’ve been around long enough to know what happens at old Trafford, if it had been strand Larsen up the other end, that’s given as a free kick on the edge of the area
Big teams seem to get the decisions, Kamada was booked early on for holding a player, Utd had 2 players do exactly the same within 15 minutes, but didn't get booked. It's the lack of consistency that pisses people off.

I thought exactly the same.

I guess the kindest thing to say is that they're consistently inconsistent.

What, a foul outside the box and then a foul inside the box, so let's settle for a penalty. Bollox.
You need a visit to specsavers Painter.

to be fair to painter it's been said for seasons that if the offence continues into the box they will give a penalty.

I think the law should be where the offence starts unless maybe if there are two seperate fouls (as in if advantage was played).

The contact was slight and started outside the box and Cunha clearly dives - not sure why you are defending the decision to be honest?
Anywhere else on the pitch it would be given so if it was in the area then it should be a penalty and a red card however most of the contact was out side of the box so surely the decision should be where the first contact occurred unless the rules have changed? VAR goes back to see if any other offences took place so what’s the difference. Also every single corner is a wrestling match with players getting away with murder so where is the consistency.

I must be in the minority as I think we brought it on ourselves. After going one up against a very average United side we kept passing it backwards when in good attacking positions instead of looking to score a second goal.We had more of a go with ten men than we did while we were on top early in the game.I’ve had it now with OG as he plays too defensively unlike when he first arrived and we played more on the front foot. Also Johnson is stealing a living!!
I agree that we played more aggressively "with ten men," but it's because we went down 2-1 not long after Lacroix was sent off. At that point, we had nothing to lose, PLUS United became content to sit back and protect their lead.

Not trying to be deliberately argumentative, but a genuine question.
When Max was sent off, should we have changed to a back 4. The reason being, we become very inexperienced and weak with Riad and Canvot in the same team.
The second goal came from a poor clearance from Canvot and then a missed header by him. I do not dig out specific players and do not blame him for the loss.
For me we were always going to be under the cosh with 10 men and likely to be doing a lot of defending and not pushing up the field with the wing backs. We then have an extra player in midfield to help protect the defence and try to see out a 1-1 draw.
Just a thought!

I have a genuine question.

Why do all refs all appear to be from the north? I am yet to hear one speak without sounding like they are from the north of our great lands?

We had one from Sussex when we played the weed at home!!

But to answer your question, it’s cos they’re all c**ts!!!
