Main Stand redevelopment thread

I very much doubt it. If it was illegal there'd be a legion of officials trying to close it. I assume what is mean here that is that it couldn't be built today in its present form but whatever the laws that would have been broken don't apply retrospectively.
Retrospectively without alterations it probably passes basic safety levels. That’s why the toilets can’t be updated. It could impact the structure and then retrospectives goes out the window and the whole stand needs updating. I would think essential maintenance only allowed for compliance reasons.

Over 90% of houses in England wouldn’t be able to be built today , as the insulation/footings etc wouldn’t pass planning/building regs, but they are fine to live in. There’s kitchens with polystyrene tiles on the ceiling that are still being used. Probably non league teams with wooden stands etc.

Houses in old days was built to last , now days they got to be echo friendly , plus the new housing is being built on flood plains just to do there quoters the government wants , recipe for disaster

Once the new stand is up, all we need to do is put a cantilever roof on the Arthur, maybe giving the stand a second tier and we will have a smart looking modernised stadium to be proud of.
I believe there is a height restriction on that side of the ground due to the houses in Park road .Never say never I suppose but I think thats the current situation .

Do I recall that a condition of building the AW stand was that the height would not block the light or view of the houses in Park Road, some of which pre-date the football ground.

I think the club have been buying those houses as and when they become available. The maisonettes aren't an issue regarding light but the houses are. By the time anything gets done we will probably be back in the Championship though and there'll be no money left to do anything once the yanks leave the gravy train!
