Bizarrely enough I watched this game. Couldn't believe it. That was their chance to equalise too.

well the one in the Afcon final takes some beating.
In terms of Palace misses, although technically it was the rebound, Bruce Dyer v Leeds was shocking.
Last seconds of game we get a pen and Leeds play every trick in the book to get it delayed.
Eventually Brucie steps up and a certain Nigel Martyn saves a weak pen but spills it straight back to the taker.
Brucie only had to tap it into a half empty net, but loses his composure and without adjusting his position took a wild swing at it, miskicked and it dribbled past the post and the grounded keeper.
We lost the replay.
Eze's v Newcastle last season has to be up there too

I was thinking the Afcon one too. Especially with all of the shenanigans. Made it miles funnier.
How did his teammate and fans react to the penalty-taker?
Yeah, Afcon one was funniest in terms of poetic justice.
The pen-taker was an absolute rat too.

Correct.
Benteke missed a penalty in added time in the 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth.
I was livid not only because of the miss but the fact that he took the penalty when Milivojevic scored from a earlier spot-kick and was on the field of play.
Benteke hadn't scored that season and I believe he was given an opportunity to open his account.

Apparently the penalty taker was distracted by a whistle in the crowd and just thought it was the ref indicating to stop

sure the rules the ball has to be touched to be in play so the ref must have thought he touched it so if he didnt the ref F up

It may be with a penalty you have one chance touch or not. If you go past the ball your chance has gone. You can’t feign like a corner or free kick. That’s all I can think. I’m sure a poster will enlighten us.
