Crystal Palace vs. Burnley match thread

Yep, this is the difference. We literally spent £35 on a wonky donkey. Looks like another waste of money along with our future ballon D'or winner and Pino. Did I miss anyone else?
Johnson 35m sicknote Nketiah 25m sicknote Franca 25m Pino 25m Canvot 20m.
120m on players who are either crap and will always be or players who have yet to deliver. Piss poor recruiting.

I woke up this morning, after having this ridiculous football-related dream. That dream turned into a nightmare in under 10 minutes.
Just checking this thread again, in the forlorn hope it didn't actually happen.

Nope : 🙁

I am incandescent and 'Spitting Feathers' at the total capitulation against a Burnley team destined for the dreaded drop.
I was at my splenetic worst last night, molten with rage, tonsils leaving my moorings.
We have only won 1 game in 14 and that against a Brighton team that has only won 1 in the previous 11 games. At 'Selhurst Park' we have only won 4 games in 18 in all competitions.
I rose from my slumber this morning with sheer horror on my mind reflecting on the overall performance and the decisions taken from the bench.
We had a golden opportunity to stretch our points differential over W.Ham to 11, the rest as they say is history.
SHAME ON THEM ALL.😡😡😡😡😡

Positives from the fact that Strand Larsen scored 2 excellent goals from impressive assists. Well done to the 'Big man' and to Wharton and Munoz.
This is where the positives end. A capitulation in 5 minutes was as unexpected as it was unacceptable. We looked a complete mess in conceding those goals.
In possession our build-up was far too slow and ponderous with no peneteration down the left at all.Mitchell is an accomplished 1v1 defender but offers no great threat in the final third. It was truly alarming how Burnley were a threat on transition.
The less said about the substitutions the better. 😡

I did except I dont know why we was 3-1 down to liverpool and I was the only Palace fan in the ground , and Liverpool fans escorted me after the game to the station in silence , been up since 2am stewing ,

if they scored 3 worldies then ok still hard to swallow but it would be better than that criminal display in the last 6mins of that half , this match is going to haunt me for a long time , for me we must win the next 3 match's with ease and playing as one unit before utd match , I agree with the Dyche idea until the end of the season not pretty but would take anything to stop things like last night

This "team" doesn't look like a team any longer. This is the most damning indictment of Glasner and his methods. Proven by his "fling some mud and hope some sticks" substitutions when things go wrong and he doesn't have a scooby what to do next.
The circus needs a circus master or the clowns get out of hand.

I agree.
My other concern is the lack of player to create a bit of magic , to drop the shoulder and beat a player or burst past them to open up a defence or create an opportunity.
It looks to me that ,whatever their attributes , none of Guessand, Johnson or Pino look to be this sort of player.
They look like functional cogs with limited strengths as opposed to genuine flair footballers who will get fans off their seats and produce a bit of magic.
Perhaps some of this may be due to their unsuitability for Glasner’s system.

Is this guy actually trying to get sacked?

At 2 up had we gone "Royball" or even "Dycheball" it would have stayed that way, there we are at 2 up and still playing open football.

Something has to be done with that defence. As uninspiring as it is get Dyche in now to grind out another 9 points.

Parish has to get him in now even if he has to nosh him off to do it.

There were so many things wrong last night and has been mentioned in this thread. One being Richard’s playing on the wrong side of the back 3. For me the problem lies more with our so called defensive two midfielders who last night didn’t help our defenders at all. Burnley sliced through them? I would start Hughes and Lerma for the Wolves game in that position and just perhaps they will be more solid. As for the conference league game start Wharton or Kamada with one of the two mentioned alongside them. It’s not just that being the problem but we need to sort that out before Wolves do a Burnley on us. Better still, get rid of Glasner today and hopefully the new man in will have a 3/4 man midfield?

Biggest immediate problem is lack of onfield captaincy. Last night should have gone like this:

2-0 up

Concede two quick yellows

CPFC captain talks to the ref, why 2 quick yellows? Ref says because the fouls were denying Burnley counter attacks.

CPFC captain has a quick word with the players 'lads we are 2-0 up, let's stop trying to get Larsen a first half hat trick and everyone drop 10 yards (or metres).'

Possession stats switch and Burnley have 75% of the ball for the last 15 minutes of the half. They get a corner, but don't score

HT 2-0. Happy Days

OK, it's easy in hindsight, but my point is that it's a waste having Hendo as a Captain, when captains are now allowed to speak to the Ref and can slow the game down a bit.

Picking the captain is a more interesting question, which I don't know the answer to. Needs to be a regular starter with the coolest head (not Lacroix, Munoz, Wharton). Is Richards captain material maybe?

Possibly. He certainly was with the Sunderland debacle. He’s already told us and the world he doesn’t care. I now wonder if he really gives a damn if we win or lose. He certainly won’t be bothered if we go down beyond the impact on his reputation. He’s utterly toxic to the team and the club now

does glasner have any form game plan we ere 2-0 up and we do that. most managers would have us sat back and let them try break us down which would left them open at the back very pardew est 😡

30 minutes of pass and move Palace at our best football and 2 lovely goals. Lose a goal against the run of play followed by a second from a clear handball and a third because we can’t defend set pieces. Lord knows what was said at half time but surely it wasn’t “play the second half at walking pace”. They needed a serious bollocking at half time and come out flying to undo the 10 crazy minutes but there was nothing, no movement, no running off the ball. Then the manager who is all about the system abandons it, takes off the players most likely to create something and throws on a bunch of random subs in the hope that we might snatch a point somehow.
A season that carried so much hope looks at best likely to end with us limping to safety. I wish it was over already.

As many, still struggling to understand what happened.

IMO its hard to blame the capitulation on Glasner. I wasn't looking at him (left at 2-0 to get a pint) but I suspect he was fuming. But I do struggle with some of the subs and 2nd half set up.

The first 35 or so mins were so good, i think everyone in the ground, players too, thought we were going to win this 5/6 nil. Even when Burnley scored the 1st they didn't run to get the ball and go again. So I can only assume we just dropped the intensity.

The big big worry is the inability to produce anything of note in the 2nd half. Subs didn't work, formation wasn't changed. Still ended the game with 3 CBs (why not stick one of them up top?)

Guess no one knows. Bournemouth bought a big Brazilian for about half Johnson price. In his first game (substitute) he had an assist, in his two next games he both scored. And what have got from our 35 mill. buy from Spurs...?

He has pace in behind and can finish well, I just don't understand why we got him what the plan was, we do not play to his strengths
