We are not surprized

Let’s be honest here. In addition to JPM (worst offender) I think Wharton, Pino, Hughes and to a lesser extent Lerner should bear some of the brunt of the fan’s ire !
It is bad when our goal scorers are Sarr who has been away at Afcon and Munoz who has been injured.

Basically meant that when Mateta wasn’t firing we struggled to find any goals at all and sure enough this has proved to be the case.

Yes good point, I doubt Wharton will ever score a goal in his career🤣Pino could’ve had 6 goals in his first couple of games he missed so many chances and poor old hughsey, he keeps having a pop at goal, but all he does is have the crowd ducking for their lives 🤣

A lot of this season's woes are undoubtedly down to a misfiring Mateta, some of his misses are hard to explain, nevertheless a manager who kept him on maybe in the belief that he would come good whilst carrying an injury is equally at fault. Clearly Uche was never going to get past the threshold of starting appearances which would have meant the club had to purchase him, it explains why Glasner never used him even when Mateta was so awful. And then we have sicknote Nketiah, a lightweight who was never going to feature in Glasner's main plans.
It looks like the club has understood the problem, and if Strand Larsen has similar scoring opportunities I expect him to do well.

I think Pino will find his feet soon and start contributing to the goals tally , Wharton ,Hughes and Lerma are played as defensive midfielders and get little opportunity to go for goal under Glasners system .You only had to see the dressing down Hughes got last week for having an adventurous pop at goal to see this sort of carry on is an offence in Glasners book of ball retention .
Playing one of our 6's as an 8 would I'm sure help with the goals from midfield but then that risks the defensive structure Glasner is so keen on so it wont happen .

Maybe next season

Small consolation but still least he has scored, albeit not for us. Billy Gilmour just scored his first ever club goal in 116 appearances. Maybe scoring isn't important to young midfield players.

You’re not wrong about the DM part but they have had chances. Wharton has missed a literal open goal, Hughes has had chances in the box. Kamada and Lerma (at set pieces) too. That isn’t all positioning.

I’m not defending JP at all but I think it is a club wide issue. The closest to being remotely clinical has been Sarr, Munoz and Guehi but everyone else has looked poor in front of goal when they have had genuine chances, even LeCroix, Richards and Mitchell as well as the CMs, Devenny and Yeremy.

This doesn’t explain why he has been so against bringing him on as a sub until really late though? I just think he doesn’t trust him, not unlike Esse or Rak Sakyi

But OG in his position could put him on. Nothing changes and he gets a free pass. Knowing JPM was not scoring I cannot understand why he never tries him.
Maybe be Uche working with JSL could be a benefit with his game.

For sure the midfielders get the odd chance and they have missed a couple of sitters but in general play if they do get a chance its when we are on top and they are faced with a packed defence with little time to do anything but snatch at the chance . We just don't create enough space in and around the box that allows for a considered finish

Someone was saying to me that when a ball comes out to the edge of the box from say a corner or free kick the midfielders are encouraged to shoot (even if the area in front of the goal is packed) because even a wayward shot, potentially does a lot less damage than being tackled / losing the ball & the opposition having a clear opportunity to charge forward into an open pitch.
