I was selecting a sandwich in Tesco and a random comes up to me and says “ you’re having a tough time at the moment” I looked up and not knowing him from Adam, I thought he was talking about how long it was taking to select my lunch, it took quite a few seconds to realise I was still wearing my palace bobble hat. Had a good football chat then, which was a bonus!

Before we even kicked a ball in it, I said we won’t win it for all the reasons we knew would start to kick in once we got near Christmas. I was just happy to be in it and get through to the new year. Most of the media were saying we were favourites, mainly because we were the only premier league team in it. Much as the tournament gets criticised for its lack of quality and unknown teams in it, once you get down to the latter stages there’s some good teams with European experience standing in our way, assuming we get through the play off of course

My Chelsea brother in law found some old palace programmes in the loft, he wanted to know if they were worth anything. One of them was the Enfield 3rd round tie in 1982 which I was at. All I could do was think ‘awww the memories of when we could actually beat non league teams in the cup’ 🤣

I recall this encounter.
We won 3-2, Vince Hilaire got a brace and David Price scored the other goal.
David Price played for Arsenal in 3 consecutive FA Cup finals.
Remember the 4-0 in 76 , was kicked out of the white hoarse lol but there was always a turnstile open so walked up holmesdale and got in there with the other 7 that was kicked out with me , happy days 😀

Paul Hammond was in goal, Kenny Sansom played and I believe Dave Swindlehurst scored a brace.
I was not forcibly ejected from the 'Whitehorse' !
Yes think it was 2 in each half , we was kicked out for messing around tried to sneak away but this gorilla hand come down on my shoulder and the girl who was with us so we left after giving our names , which was a our real ones 🤔
and was pretty hopeless for us!

I think we got let off pretty easy.
social meeeja seems more interested in hanging spurs out to dry on a regular basis and any of the big clubs when they have the smallest of failures.
Although I doubt it with current form, it would still be possible to make progress in the cup with the team actually getting back to their old selves.
One can but hope. 🙂
