Could it be Jorge Mendes is leeching his way into the club via his links with Matt Hobbs. He's certainly going to make a pretty penny off of us. It'd also explain why we're the only team willing to offer a ridiculous fee for JSL. Or maybe I'm just getting paranoid.

The perception of several West Ham fans is that Mendes has a toxic strategic partnership with Nuno where Nuno gets his employers to overpay for very average players represented by Mendes.

Harsh or not, I cannot get excited about paying nearly £50m for JSL. This appears to be a very un-Palace like move and it coincides with Hobbs getting his feet under the table. I do hope this is not the start of a Wolves like decline: they were very watchable and worthy of their Premier League place just a couple of seasons ago. That said, once you make a decision to bring Hobbs in then you have to back him or else what's the point.

There must be a decent number nine somewhere in the top 5 European leagues, or maybe in Holland, who we can take a punt on for a fraction of that? Abraham just joined Villa, Wilson was rumoured to be available at West Ham, Panichelli at Strasbourg looks pretty good. There are players around.

I'm sure that when there was talk of Nuno coming to Palace there were rumours about his relationship with Mendes being one of the negatives as well as his desire to bring 5,000 coaches with him

He got removed from an updated version. Don't think there's anything to see here. Just sky trying to make the day seem more exciting.

A shame really, seemed like the only player who we were linked with that fits our normal profile.

In the press here it is implied that Ajax pulled out after Premier league interest and that Forest was the most concrete. They decided to keep the player as they are flying high in our Mickey Mouse League and hoping for European Football but apparently the players head has been turned.
