Its the club's job, recruitment or whomever to be constantly looking for talent, young players etc. We should have all this set up.

We knew Marc was not going to sign a new contract so these people or teams or whatever should be out there assessing the situation. Maybe a defender in who we could used in a squad role and get to know the ropes and then slip into the Marc role? It doesn't matter who we think that player that should be.

It speaks volumes as to where we are as a club that we dont by now have a player that can come into back knowing that Marc was going 2 transfer windows ago. Instead we react after. Marc left nearly 3 weeks ago.

I hope Riad improves dramatically if he’s going to be a regular feature in defence. He deserved to be subbed today regardless of changing formation. He was out of his depth positionally and physically. It’s still early days for him in playing terms for us so hopefully he gets better. I can’t see how we start him though. Our best centre half after Richards and Lacroix right now is Lerma

Riad was a lengthy injury. We should of had a loan maybe? My point is we should have been more on the ball.

Sometimes I think I'm watching a different game or maybe it's my aging years kicking in but thought Riad was as good as Max or Richards. He is the natural replacement for Guehi with young Canvot, who has great potential, as his back up

Riad has been out for 18 months and isn't going to last 90 minutes just yet but even so was given the nod over Canvot.

As I've posted before, I think there's a risk attached to relying on both for the remainder of this season at a time where we still need points. Utilising Lerma also reduces our midfield options.

We had 2 goalkeepers on the bench again for Gods sake.

We have our disagreements however I’m 100% with you on this and struggle to see how others see it differently.

Between now and the end of the season Lacroix and Richards will be expected to play virtually every minute of every match. You can almost guarantee that one if not both of them will get injured at some point and we will have serious problems if that does happen. A back three of Canvot, Riad and Lerma does not inspire any confidence at all.

He's been out 12 months but get your point. Yes, he's was given the nod over Canvot, due to his mounting costly mistakes.

He was from Barca so clearly can play.
I saw a timid defender when he had space in front of him. MG would have been past the half way line with the ball where riad stayed 10 yards back. Is that him as a player not being fit, the type of system we were playing or OG being too rigid.

Not really sure to which topic this belongs, but, as things stand I can see the Larsson deal falling away as Milan decide Nateta is crocked. Mateta will then be injured or „not in the right place to help the team. That would mean we hope that Guessard is actually a CF. That hopefully explains why he didn’t work out at Villa,playing wide. So, as we are told that that our xG midfield resources should return to the fold in short order, thus creating chance after chance for our CF (see above), shouldn’t the focus be on a replacement for MG? I realise that the club already purchased Canvot/Riad but as much as I want them to develop, neither is currently up to it and if we can’t keep clean sheets we are unlikely to win, obviously. Just ask the great Brian Clough, or at least refer to his famous quotes
