US Politics

Not really. The House representatives sit for 2 years. The elections coincide with the Presidential election and then all the seats are vacated and refilled at the midterms.

Senators serve for 6 years, but are divided into 3 groups with elections happening alongside the Presidential and at the midterm. Thus ensuring some continuity.

So all the House seats are in play, but only around 1/3rd of the Senate. The mid terms can have significant consequences.
Thanks, that explains certainly what I read earlier.

I think they are the equivalent to our council elections (the timing I mean). Voters often use Mid terms to give the President / ruling party a bloody nose by voting for the other party or independents.

However like our GE when it comes to Presidential elections people revert to form.

In this country the Greens do quite well except at the GE as they are used as a protest vote.

I know nothing about how it works in the UK.
What I do know is that in the US, one should not take the mid-terms as an indicator of the next Presidential cycle. Historically, the president's party almost always loses ground in the House during midterms, with these three instances being the only exceptions since the Civil War.

  • 2002 Midterms: Republicans (under G.W. Bush) gained 8 House seats.
  • 1998 Midterms: Democrats (under Clinton) gained 5 House seats.
  • 1934 Midterms: Democrats (under F.D. Roosevelt) gained 9 House seats.
A poor mid-term result does not stop either party from retaining the White House.

Really you must be taking the advice to take precautions, be aware of your surroundings, and do not go out at night! The land of the free.......

🙂
Bit rich coming from someone who lives in Croydon ( apologises if you don’t but delete Croydon and add any big town/City in the UK) 😎

It's obviously decent enough where he lives. There are bad places no doubt. No idea what the common denominator of those places could possibly be.
I stayed in Seattle a few years ago. It's only really slightly rough downtown. Friends we stayed with didn't look their house or car most of the time. It was that safe.
Which is better than where I live. We have loads of burglaries. I have a massive aggressive dog.

Grounds for a divorce if ever I saw one 😂

Did you watch the interviews or are you just making a generalisation?

If the latter do actually watch them and see if your opinion changes.

Thatcher wasn’t for turning. Nor is this guy.
If he speaks sense forget it unless he is mercurial and entertaining.

Houston's post above suggests behind Trump the nation remains relatively well managed and economy in good enough health despite the frothing lunacy of the front man.

This suggests that any irrational unpredictable lunatic can "run" that country and, indeed, it would be a positive benefit to win the gig.

Meanwhile the world wrings it's hands in anxiety as to who has the button while the USA carries on regardless watching with amusement their leaders latest populist off the cuff daily gaff.

What has politics come to?

Big Elon and Trumpy babes got some questions to answer…
The files realised contain thousands of accusations many of which without any evidence to back them up. It's why the great and the good did not want them all released and to some extent I sympathise (if they are innocent).

Just because someone calls the FBI and says they have seen Lord Lucan riding Shergar it doesn't mean it's true. However people wanted all the files released and the press love it because they can print even the most ridiculous and damming accusations safe that they will not be sued.

Also what pisses me off is the amount of redaction....as I'm not buying it's all 'for the victims'.

I think a lot of it is to protect the names of agency personnel. Epstein was there to make deals for all the main agencies and the sex stuff was accepted as 'how it's done'.

Complete degeneracy.....Someone said Alex Jones should be apologised to on this particular topic and that's probably true.....because people said he was nuts.

I think like all decent people, if any of the accusations actually stand up then we want those people in jail or at least standing trial.

But it's kind of a joke.

Congress sent subpoenas to the Clintons over their relationship with Epstein and they just ignored them and didn't turn up.....You kind of got to admire the sheer front.

We are living in the age of right is might......though in truth we always were, it's just not covered up as much.

Israel control the US....At least while the boomers rule.....I think the assassination attempts on Trump involved the intel agencies and now he's just their b1tch...I think he's scared to say no......Essentially Mossad/CIA run foreign policy just as much as Trump does and that's why we are days away from an another attack on Iran.....this time a much bigger one.

In regards to Don lemon.....raiding a church is also not a "peaceful protesting".

There is a line between being a neutral observer and then being an activist.

Would be interesting to see any videos of the events....or were the cameras all conveniently turned off?

For whatever reason, after initial interest, Musk appears to have been a red flag for Epstein and co.

For those who don't know what FTW means, it's 'for the win'.

There are large swathes of the USA where people live a perfectly good life. That though doesn’t mean they don’t feel discontented, or want even more. The real indicators are not individual opinions or experiences but the polling trends. These paint a constant downward trajectory for Trump. He is now well under water, so despite all the “it’s actually ok” claims, it really isn’t. We know, of course, how misleading the polls can be when it comes to the actual vote, but this feels different. Trump won’t be on the ballot next time, so there must be a change. Which way will the independents swing? Towards pr away from Vance?

So where actually in the USA do you live?
