The Green Party will be represented by Hannah Spencer in the forthcoming Gorton and Denton by-election.
The 34-year-old plumber currently leads the Greens on Trafford Council, where she has represented the Hale ward since May 2023.
Thanking party members for her nomination, Spencer said: "Reform have chosen a candidate that will divide our community - he doesn't even think many of the people who live and work here are even British. I will bring the people of Gorton and Denton together."
The by-election on 26 February in the Greater Manchester constituency was triggered by the resignation of Andrew Gwynne on health grounds.
'Crucial by-election'
Spencer, who stood in the 2024 Greater Manchester mayoral election, said: "I work as a plumber, something I've done since leaving education at 16. I'm training to become a plasterer too."I've lived in the constituency and still work here. So, I know the issues and what people want to change."
She added: "This is a crucial by-election. The choice is clear – Green v Reform. Hope v hate."
Her party's leader Zack Polanski said: "The Houses of Parliament. Leaky roofs, crumbling walls. I think they need a plumber and a plasterer and we've got someone who can do both."
Earlier this week, the Green Party confirmed Polanski, who was born and grew up in Greater Manchester, would not be standing in the seat.

At the general election in 2024, the Green Party came third in the constituency, just behind Reform UK.
Labour won the seat with a majority of 13,000 but has suffered a decline in popularity nationally since the general election and is expected to face more of a challenge this time around.
The party has yet to select its candidate having blocked Andy Burnham from entering the contest.
The Greater Manchester mayor had wanted to throw his hat in the ring, but Labour's ruling National Executive Committee prevented him from being considered as a candidate.
Defending its decision, the committee said that if Burnham won the seat it would trigger an "unnecessary election" for the mayoralty, diverting party resources away from other elections.
Had he been elected as an MP, Burnham would have been in a position to challenge Sir Keir Starmer for the Labour Party leadership.
The NEC's decision triggered anger among some MPs who backed Burnham and believed he was the party's best chance at holding on to the seat.
Reform UK have picked GB News presenter and former academic Matt Goodwin to run in the seat.
Speaking at his unveiling as a candidate, Goodwin said he was "not part of the Westminster blob" and would give local people a voice in Parliament.
He said the by-election would be "a referendum on Keir Starmer".
Labour has drawn attention to the backing Goodwin has received from far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Speaking during a campaigning visit to the constituency, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage said Muslim voters did not need to fear his party saying "there are plenty of members of the Muslim community who will vote for Reform".

I could get a partner within days Dan, but I am out for one I want as well, not one of the multiple women I don’t want. I have learned that a lot of the people who say things or claim this and that have a partner who’s a size 16 or more. No thanks. Maybe not you, but a lot.
People in relationships really misunderstand what dating is like in the 2020’s. Back in the noughties it actually required skill. No smart phones. You know, actually talking.
Plus I’m a bit older than you.
It’s about where you are in the market. SMV Sexual Market Value. Unfortunately there’s a lot of delusional women around who think they’re in with the 5-10% of men at the top of attractiveness. They aren’t.
Anyway, I look like I’ve shedded 20 pounds in a month or 2 with some muscle gain and a lot of cardio instead of just weights. Women notice a man with a defined face and the classic build whereas average men are invisible to most of them.
The change in how both men and women see you is very noticeable when you know how to shed weight quickly and tone up fast too.

The last Italian bint did my head in with all her opinions about how much other people, mainly English, drinking too much, which is one glass of wine on an evening meal out only. Glass of water only with friends. I wasn’t drinking very much at all and I have barely had a drink for a while now to change things up. Also ditched the new feminisation of dating my brain has been infected with over the years. It’s complete BS and women see through it anyway. Be a man, be masculine, take em or leave em, let them contact you. I knew what worked back in the day because us lads grabbed phones off each other. Only then I did t understand why it worked. Now I’m older and wiser I need to know why, and it doesn’t matter the age, the psychology is still the same. One thing that does change is that as women age they do value kindness more so you can’t overdo playing the game, and everyone is playing a game everyday. You don’t speak to your mum, partner, boss or co workers the same.

Thank you. I had this view that I’ll cut down on drinking in a relationship again. Unfortunately the world doesn’t work how you view through your delusional and clouded mind, and alcohol will do that. You should cut down on drinking first or anyway. The brain is incredible really because the thinking I’ve done recently with a clear head makes the previous alcohol clouded thinking compare 90% versus 20%.
I’ve done dry spells before and thought, well yeah, I have more energy I expected. What else? Nothing really. It’s because I wasn’t channeling thoughts elsewhere. Probably why I’ve not been posting. Still reading chunks.
You still post utter shyte politically Dan X. But nobody’s perfect, even the 9’s on dating apps. Very little sense of humour. God I miss the ‘90s and noughties.
Oh and I’ve met women who have hundreds of matches or likes. Not sure which because I don’t pay much attention if they tell me. So it’s really not easy unless you date down or you are the top 10%, and then the women get treated like sh1t and moan. Out in the wild is much better. More animalistic and sparky.
