Jørgen Strand Larsen

If I had to guess as the Palace strategy on this, right now I would say that we have secured immediate reinforcements for the front line in the shape of Guessand, and lined up a replacement for Mateta in the form of Larsen. All that awaits to be seen right now is whether someone offers us what we want for Mateta before the window closes, and in time for the Larsen deal to be completed. If not, Mateta stays put until the summer, and for very good reason.

Of course, someone might gazump us for either Guessand or Larsen, or one or other may fail a medical, or the manager might not pick them if they do sign, or they might be a disappointment, or fall down the stairs, or whatever. These things are true of most signings most of the time. To me, it looks like Palace at least have a contingent strategy regarding the No9 position.

Our experience with expensive strikers are not that good. Marco G., Aki A. to mention two. 50 mill. for a Norwegian that is not even in the Wolves starting line-up.
Could he be worse than Johnson?

My gut feeling is he is not that good and we should walk away. There are got to be better strikers around - Haji Wright springs to mind if Coventry were not to get promoted this season as well the clubs in the Europa league and players who did well at the AFCON.
Absolutely no way he runs way too hot and cold. Hes very divisive in the coventry fanbase for a reason

I keep wondering why we are willing to pay this kind of money for JSL but I'm told he is seen as a perfect fit for Palace's system and has aspects of his game that are better than Mateta. Despite the only 1 goal this season everyone that knows this lads game tells me he is a way better and more clinical finisher for a start!
