He's 6ft 4, dont see why he couldn't play as a 9.

He can't head the ball. I assume you have never watched him play. He has struggled at Man U and they don't know where to play him. With 1 up top, as we and most teams play, he can't hold the ball up and be a focal point for the attack.

If we were playing 442 he might fit in.

Broadly I'm keen not to write off all of this United crop. They have been terribly managed, and until recently had a manger determined to playing a formation which destroyed their midfield.

Carrick has fixed that suddenly they look twice the team thy looked a couple of weeks back.

Bit early to make that claim. 2 games where they shouldn't need much motivation for, and a simplefication of system. That's pretty much how Ole's reign started. Still time for the newly fitted wheels to fall off.

Yeah fair.

IMO it was glaringly obvious that Bruno wasn't disciplined enough to play in a 2 man midfield. Carrick has gone to 3 CMs with Bruno now playing as the 10. A position that he's perfect for.

Agree, JP is hardly renowned for his heading ability.

A couple of points re Man U. Amorin played the same formation as OG so if Zirkzee struggled in that formation he will probably do the same at Palace.

Carrick has worked wonders, however, it is noticeable that Zirkzee has NOT even been on the subs bench for those two games.
Surely that speaks volumes.
