Parish Out

You would think so, wouldn't you. They have a week left to do anything positively about it. By getting new players in. Here we are nearing the end of the window with a small inadequate squad and we've seen 1 in and 2 out (if you include Esse on loan), so we are now in a weaker position than at the start of the window.

I suspect Parish and the board think we are safe and unwilling to spend as Glasner is off.

Once the window closes the only thing they can do is try to bring in a new manager early. I'm not sure that will work this time. Think it will just destabilise things further.

We didn't strengthen in the summer, when we should have.

I just hope we survive and can start afresh in the Premier League next season. If we don't then for me the fault is purely with Parish and the rest of the board.
Fair enough, however a lot of targets weigh up their options in this window and go at the end. Wouldn't you wait and see if there was a better offer before doing anything? Agents will try to wring every last penny/ cent out of transfers for obvious reasons.
Plus, players have to want to come. Which is an issue currently. Heard the Genk full back wants to come but the Genk are holding off. That could be our last minute one. Heard Strand Larsen wants to move but the price is too high. Just what I heard.
Heard there have been pathetic sounding offers for Mateta. Loan with an option to buy. Piss off.

How can you compare olise with kamada? They play in different positions.

after a dodgy start kamada has more than proved he was a bargain as a free transfer. The odd mistake aside, his energy, ball winning, technical nous and his quick passes that start so many of our attacks have been badly missed.

He compliments wharton's play so well and we haven't won a game since he got injured v man city.
Interesting I didn’t see that!
I read he kicked off against Chelsea as he wanted to start and OG said no.
Maybe if OG goes he might stay with us assuming we stay up.

If OG ends up going to ManU (not sure that he will) or any other biggish club, I cannot see them signing Kamada. He is not a high enough profile player and so as you say, he may stay with us if we stay up!

The most misunderstood cog in the machine.

Would be so f***ing nice if Mr Parish spoke to us about all this shite that's gone on and still going on. We don't need a posh new stand if there's no premier team to play in front of it. We need bodies in now (as in players not corpses)

Are you suggesting our chairman is sat there twiddling his thumbs?
Well he's sitting pretty f***ing quiet while everyone lays in to others. We pay his wages so would be nice to hear something from him on all the shite going on in our club, or am I imagining that we seem to be imploding? Are they not mainly his and the board's decisions as to who we sell, buy, loan, sack and what we spend etc. Would like to see him in a press conference and hear his thoughts on everything, as we kind of know what Ollie's going to say each time.

Off your high horse, Mr tactical genius. Some of us understand exactly how the cog works and still maintain he's inferior to the other options we have in CM. Kamada wouldn't get in the Man Utd B team, let alone their first team. But if he wants to follow Glasner there, fine by me and most other Palace fans I speak to.

As fans we all want to hear from Parish about what is going on and what he and the board are doing about it. However in reality why would a chairman of any business outside of sport (not just football) be expected to start publicly talking about their business plans. Who they want to recruit, why they have sacked/stood bye a manager or anything else relating to their business.
Because fans have so much emotionally invested in their respective teams we feel that we should be told every detail of what is going on, but that is never likely to happen and I do understand why.
How many times have we missed out on a player because it became public knowledge and then WestSpam went and nicked them. Or we have been linked with a manager and they end up somewhere else.
The club is in a mess at the moment, and it comes down to you either trusting the chairman and the board to navigate us out of it, or you don’t. Just don’t expect for the club to say anything until they have something to announce!

I love football but loathe what it has become. The Premier League is a very good case study into why. Fans no longer do represent the majority of clubs' income; broadcasting revenue does. This is a major part of the disease, along with agents and global ownership.

Not really as only about 10% of the club's income is from gate receipts with the overall majority coming from Sky

Back to the topic - Parish out! A big NO from me....but we are missing Dougie F.

1. Dougie was quite successful however we will never know about the players he didn't sign e.g. the board said no. Did they go on to became stars or flops. The players that we did sign, was that Dougie or the manager or both?

2. Palace not spending is often blamed on Parish. We know that Parish has said he will not gamble and get us into debt and I respect that e.g. Goldberg. However I am not convinced that Parish alone is holding back the club.

We have 3 Billionaire owners used to getting their own way (see their American clubs). If they wanted to splash the cash and Parish said no, I can't afford to pony up my share, I think we would hear about it in the press. If it continued like that the other three would sack Parish from running the club and at the very least relegate him to a minority shareholder withy no power.

That has not happened, in fact I have never even heard a whisper that the other 3 aren't happy with Parish. My guess is that Steve is doing exactly what they want and they have no intentions of pumping money into the club (again see their American clubs and fans moaning about that).

So if we want a change it's not Parish out, it's Parish and the other 3 out.

No most dont understand how he, and hence the unit works. People throw lazy accusations that he doesn't tackle, and that we need Hughes or Lerma in the middle for more grit. But dont understand the benefit of blocking passing lanes, and compressing space between the lines.

It might look, like others do more. But the machine works better with him in it.

What the Man U team got anything to do with anything?

What I would say is the midfield two was working ok with him in and his not worked without him in it. Whatever his individual merits, results were better with him on the pitch.

I couldn't agree more ..... the track record of the American owners is exactly how things are playing out at our club, the only difference being that in the major leagues there is no relegation .... just very unhappy loyal fans. I think we have to be resigned to a risk averse approach in terms of squad depth and payroll, which will keep us firmly anchored in the bottom half of the table every season, until we get it wrong and then looking up from below 🙁 . The new stand will not make us more competitive, it will just raise revenues enough so that we can maintain a perceived status quo. Our two trophies are the glory memories we can treasure forever (I am proud to say I was there), but hold no illusions about winning the conference or continued european football at Selhurst Park. Even the most optimistic have to admit the club is in free fall right now, hopefully there is a "parachute" somewhere this week or else it will be a very hard landing at the end of the season.

glasner out, or parish out. its all about this massive dip in form.

To the Eagle above who criticized kamada. You don't know what you are talking about. The absence of Kamada has hurt us in the last 2 months.

2 Problems.
- selling away our talent, for not enough money.

- bringing in mediocre replacements, and often over-paying for them.

now you can blame whoever you like. Relegation is now a very real prospect.

Agreed.

Harris and Blitzer have been on board for just over 10 years now. And you have to assume that they endorsed Parish and the way the club is run when Woody Johnson bought Textor out last summer.

Their original investment was meant to be ring fenced and used towards the new stand. What happened there ?

The way the Premier League financial rules work actively prevent our 3 billionaires from doing very little other than sustain the club. Those rules are about to become even more restrictive. So even if they were willing to throw money at Palace they can't.

Palace are also ' small beer ' in H and B's sports portfolio. The Premier League is a global, high profile entity now. So it holds an attraction for investors, but if you work the numbers, it doesn't match up with the other sports.

As an example, Josh Harris led a consortium that bought the Washington Commanders for 6 billion dollars. Magic Johnson ( not to be confused with our recent signing ! ) owns 4% which set him back 242 million dollars.

Harris and Co. now plan to spend 4 billion dollars on a new stadium

I doubt that CPFC crosses his mind too frequently.

As for Steve Parish, overall I'm in the Pro Parish camp. While reserving the right to criticise him when I see fit ! If Sustainability is your thing, then Steve Parish is your man. He makes mistakes as we all do. And I think he has his own version of events that don't always tie in with the actuality.

Eventually of course he will go .And it could transpire that the club is run in a different, less risk adverse way. To be honest, I find that an interesting prospect because last season aside, it's all become a bit predictable. Saying that I'm being influenced by my lack of enthusiasm for the Premier League ' Product ' in general.

I agree with what you are saying on the whole, however having a bigger capacity, by way of a new stand will help us towards FFP/PSR and being able to attract better players
