I don’t think anyone objects to professional border force agents quietly detecting and removing any illegal immigrant who gets involved in crime. Previous administrations have done this, with much more success than the present one. They didn’t though present it on TV as political theatre.

The current Trump administration is doing this in the way they are for purely political reasons. They are targeting Democratic run cities and in the case of Minnesota specifically because their Governor stood against Trump. It’s revenge. It’s what drives Trump.

Using poorly trained thugs, giving them para military uniforms and heavily arming them, is to invite a response.

Trump isn’t solving a problem. He is making one much worse and that is the huge divide that now threatens the very foundations of the USA.

The demonstrators started as soon as ICE moved into the area.

One of the immigrants they wanted to arrest was an Ecuadorean who has convictions for domestic assault and assault on persons. What is the racial profiling there? Maybe profiling Somalis who are involved in fraud and money laundering is no bad thing

I don't agree that he should have been....because bigger principles are at risk.

But you see it doesn't really matter what we think....the reality is that you don't try to jail your opposition unless it has enough support from their own side.

And the Democrats never had that.

If the Democrats had actually jailed Trump.....even though the guy's an arse.....you are going to get war....He only had to say the word.

Especially now that he's got rid of generals he doesn't think will back him.

You seriously think Trump will give up power to go to a prison jail? Common sense would have avoided this.....but the left lack it.

I say the only way democracy survives in America is by going back to past principles.....You don't prosecute Presidents.

But I'm honest and I think it's too late for that now......The die was past in Biden's administration....and you supported it. Trump's administration are going to copy Biden's and pick off major Democrat leaders and literally hope they get a response.

I watched his speech 4 years before the panorama program, we all watched him denying the result .
He undermined democracy .
He asked governors to find votes .
He waited 2/3 hrs before telling his mob to stand down .

Perhaps, local law inforcement could do the rounding up of illegals and criminals, after all they would have local knowledge but presumably that needs the local Democratic Governor (or similar) to want to do that. So, government forces need to go in.
Democrats run sanctuary cities, hence the ‘non-cooperation’ with Trump’s wishes.
People don’t need to obstruct but they chose to do so.
Heavy handed, poorly trained thugs? I might agree with you but that’s all the more reason for the local police to have been instructed to do this job in the first place.
Revenge? Maybe but Minnesota is a basket case that needs sorting.

If Trump had been serious about overthrowing the result he would have had armed protestors.

Sure, he waited to see what was happening as it caught him by surprise.

If Trump wants to overthrow the Democrats and keep them out of power, you'll know about it.

It won't be people armed with MAGA hats.

Let's go back to basics.

Is it OK to have millions of illegal immigrants in your country creating a black economy and draining taxpayer resources?

Is it reasonable to prioritise deporting illegals with known criminal activity?

Is it ok to interfere with law enforcement carrying out their duty because you are ideologically opposed.?

Is it in anyway a good idea to take a gun when you go to hassle law enforcement officers ? ( being legal doesn't make it less stupid )

I would suggest no, yes no and no , how stupid are you?

I not surprised that demonstrations started immediately. Their tactics being known from elsewhere pretty much guaranteed that.

If all they did was find and arrest illegals with convictions for assault then there would not be any issues at all. Unfortunately it isn’t. Not even remotely.

There’s no disguising what is really happening and joining in the whitewashing doesn’t diminish it. This is a para military force, recruited and trained quickly, badly led to act with little restraint or respect for the law.

It’s also a bad miscalculation by those running Trump. It may be popular with the hard core MAGA base but it isn’t with everybody else. There are already signs of the big funders pulling their support, of a change of position by Murdoch and a revolt by senior Republican senators who are beginning to fear a massacre at the mid terms more than deselection by Trump.

If the leftys want to protest. Be civilized and do it peacefully like everyone else. I'm sure even in the UK we don't protest against police who are carrying out operations or are on the street patrolling the area?

Even Trump wouldn’t have been so stupid as to arm the protestors. No Congress or Supreme Court could overlook that. Civil war could have resulted. That though was then. His mental state and more importantly, the people controlling him, are now much worse. He may try to suspend the Constitution and cancel the mid terms.
