Incest ....it's a Family Affair

Didn't property used to be the main reason for this? Keep it in the family as such. I think this went on longer than people may think.
I also believe certain parts of society regularly do this today.

Well its either incest or IHT.

It seems much more open discussion is acceptable about incest these days. The Royal family is just one cess pit of extremely limited DNA, and that had seemed acceptable.
I lived in a village in East Sussex for a few years. It was gradually noticeable to me that a lot of villagers were related to each other, by marrying distant cousins who all seemed to live within a 5 mile radius. Then I became aware of physical peculiarities, like the brothers who seemed to have mild dwarfism, because their legs were quite short. and the people with big ears, large foreheads and strange fingers.
When Londoners started moving into the village, it caused ripples of disdain. Because it didn't take people long to realise that most of the village was related to each other, mostly by marriage of 'cousins'.

I moved out. 🙂

Apparently there is a big chance of a congenital idiot being born through incest this could be why Trump is the way he is, i wonder?

Was it not your duty to your species to enlarge the gene pool? Manfully observing the local culture of tupping the village females in the market square while they were in season.

more data below - to compliment the data above. Apologies for a double post. But to prevent a syntax error, the software on here insisted that i keep the DNA of my 2 ideas separate.

Of course, in a society where you have a higher birth rate you will have many, many more cousins. This tends to be in poorer countries where mobility is also much lower so no surprise cousin marriage is much higher in these areas.

We avoided this because our religion forbade it, which remained culturally after secularisation.
The Muslims don't because their's seems to encourage it.

Not really sure about other religions.
