Glasner Out

Losing Olise will never heal for me. At the most recent game for Bayern he was rested but brought on at half-time with the teams tied at 1-1. 45 minutes later Bayern were 5-1 up with Michael providing 3 assists and a beautiful strike for a goal. He might be the most talented player to have ever appeared for Palace
Munoz and Wharton were acquired in January and were part of that team that looked world-beating at the end of that season. The final seven games Olise and Eze started together were all won with 24(?) goals scored
But that was with Freedman at the helm and things haven't gone so well since he left. Early days, but the first selection under Hobbs, Johnson, is a player who, like Nketiah, doesn't bring much to the game if he isn't scoring and plays in a position where Sarr offers more

They were halcyon days my friend. I remember trying to explain it to some friends who weren’t palace fans. They just couldn’t understand it.

I was saying we scored 5 goals but we should of had 10!!!!!

Off topic a little but I got the feeling that the reason Dougie left was because of Glasner. So with him going could he be coming back. I know we have replaced him, but titles aren’t the same as jobs.

I actually got the same feeling funny enough. He built us some good teams in the past like the promotion team and the fa cup winning team. I definitely wouldnt say no to him returning.

I get the feeling Sarr will move to the left replacing Pino. He’s played there on occasion and looks reasonably comfortable on that side. It does break up the Munoz Sarr relationship however. Who knows what Glasner will do!

I would like to seek Deveney played on the left side mid for a couple of games partner with Wharton.

He struggles on right & the coach needs to present him the option of trying it. Although he did stand on RHS of Wharton on escalator at Tube station , he stood up will.

Will Munoz be fit enough to return yet - has he had any reserve matches or if he’s thrown straight back in will be nervous on his knee & likely pick up a strain ( we did same to Olise a couple seasons ago )

As much as idiots in media keep saying he also wants away - he needs game time to get back into Columbia side for WC

Having had time to process the events of the last few days, I'm struggling to understand how Glasner can continue to have a working relationship with both Parish and the players.

We have of course only heard one side of the story to date.

But I question whether Parish really wants Glasner to stay or if he's just forcing his hand into resigning to avoid sacking him and paying him off.
Saw a clip of the Peterborough chairman earlier on where he made his observations. He reckons its a storm in a teacup. Glasner probably fancied an early exit but not without a payoff. Parish has probably made it clear he can go if he wants but he'll have to resign. No pay off.
Therefore Glasner will crack on. The board will stay well back and let him get on with it. Matt Hobbs can (and has already been) the conduit that links the manager to the board if he really needs dialogue with Parish.
I personally dont see the problem. In an age where players regularly go on strike to force a move and when it fails to happen he has to get on with it and the fans have to accept that he's staying. Similar situation. The only added issue is our form. But then again if he didn't sort our form out soon I'd imagine Parish will pull the plug anyway.

We've been playing Glasner's system for the best part of two years.
The system is planned to the nth degree in terms of where players should be on the pitch at any given time.
Team shape, when to press, patterns of play.
For the vast majority of the time it has got results.
Some on here say opposition teams have worked us out so it's no longer as effective.
To an extent possibly, but I believe it's more to do with the absence of key players, and furthermore the absence of squad players to slot into the system in the absence of the key players.

With the above in mind, I see it as an unnecessary risk for Glasner to go now UNLESS the relationship has irretrievably broken down.
Paddy McCarthy is a Palace man, but without meaning to be insulting he's basically the 'bibs and cones ' man in Glasner's setup, whose main role seems to be getting in the ear of the fourth official.
I don't view him as a suitable candidate even for the rest of the season taking into account Glasner's staff would probably go to.
It's time for head over heart, and what is most likely to achieve results for the rest of the season and to me Glasner looks the best option at the moment.
If results pick up people will be less concerned with what he says.
It's the nature of the game.
Theres nothing to work out as Glasner has said many times. He doesn't believe in secrecy. This is the way we play. Thats it. Beat us or lose to us. We are not less effective when our best players are available. The problem is personel. Some think we should change our system when certain players are unavailable. I think its unrealistic to completely change the way we play but being more adaptive is definitely something Glasner could look at. That and figuring out how to break down teams that dont want the ball.

Firstly I know nothing about why Dougie left - so anything I say is purely supposition & some small amount of knowledge about Saudi Arabia / the wider Middle east -

To be asked to join the PIF family isnt nothing, I think it would be (or would have the possibility to become) a wonderful opportunity for Dougie, the last time I looked PIF owned the top 4 clubs in Saudi Arabia & of course Newcastle (+ whoever else is included in that portfolio these days) can you imagine being (or becoming) the Group Director of Football for an outfit like that ? Whether we like it or not , multi club ownership isn't likely to go away anytime soon -

To me it sounds like a great opportunity -

Can’t identify a “replacement” if you don’t know someone is to need replacing.
Well you need to learn to read. I said 'obviously the manager needs to be told at the earliest opportunity when a player will be leaving, thats the only involvement he'd need to have in an outgoing tranfer.'
After that tany replacement is an incoming transfer isn't it?

This is an utterly bizarre situation. How on earth can the fans continue to support a manager who has confirmed half way through a season that he doesn’t want to be at the club, that criticises the board and the players, that refuses to alter tactics or make substitutions simply because he is trying to make a point and is apparently totally indifferent to being sacked by the club before the end of the season.

How the hell are we supposed to do any work in the transfer market when incoming players don’t know who they will be playing for manager wise and indeed why would they consider joining a club that has obvious internal friction.

Just my opinion but I am absolutely furious with Glasner. He has basically made this all about him and it is totally derailing our season.

Parish is just being Parish as normal and he is playing the game with Glasner but this could be a dangerous tactic.

I reckon he is waiting to see if there is an upturn in results with the return of Munoz and Sarr before pulling the trigger.

If things don’t improve and the poor results continue however, let’s hope it’s not left too late to make the change. As someone else posted, regardless of the current unusual circumstances, no win in 14/15 games probably gets you sacked whatever.
1. He hasn't said he no longer wants to be at the club.
2. Its not necessary to support the manager at all. Just the team. I never chant Glasner's name at games. Dont know anyone else that does either.

I never heard that, only that Glasner often said in the early days what a 'great guy Doug is'

On the plus side, when PSG buy him for £1billion, Palace stand to receive £150million from the 15% sell-on clause 🤣

May come as a surprise to some on here, but Simon Jordan has come out more in favour of Parish than Glasner (mind you, he acknowledges it pains him to do so)!
He thinks there's the possibility of it putting off some owners at big clubs who are under much greater scrutiny than Palace.
Jordan still couldn't resist one little gibe at Parish, revealing that Textor had been in touch with him over the weekend criticising Parish for 'lack of ambition.'
Parish might lack ambition but look how well Textor is doing with his.
