Trump announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with extra tariffs over Greenland

Trump, Putin and Xi ping are all megalomaniacs, they will murder their way to world domination, draw a map and say, we will have that, you can have that, and there isn't anything the little pipsqueak countries can do about it 🙁

While I don't agree with Trump policy on Greenland at all....I consider it badly wrong on several counts.

However, don't you reflect....that like most countries.....France is composed of lots of areas that didn't consider themselves French until forced to.

This implication that everywhere can live free of the influence and control of anywhere else is child-like.
 
I'll make the point again....that before WW2 Britain was a superpower and that the left from before both world wars, during them and all the way after them.

The left did their very best to tear down the British empire, weaken it and even today celebrate its decline.

So when they complain about another superpower in the world and whine about what they want to happen instead.....it is their short sighted ideology which preferred this dim future to the British having any influence at all on world events.

One of the things about the Left is that if hundreds of thousands of illegals started turning up in Greenland and demanding all sorts, they would be falling over themselves to proclaim it as being a positive thing and how everyone should just embrace the diversity and accept the old world order is over. But because its Trump, suddenly they become all about protecting the West.

Now as far as I am concerned, Trump can go f*** himself on this. 100% in favour of Europe actually stopping foreigners from thinking they can just impose themselves on us. But then again, I am a Far-Right lunatic. What is the reasoning behind the Left's opposition?

Sounds like you prefer other empires because one thing is certain mate, empire never ends, it might change a little, but you just shift onto someone else.

As for 'missing the British Empire'. That's an answer that would involve a long post and doesn't involve a binary yes and no response.

I highly.....highly miss the British influence in the world, as I believe things would be quite a bit better....and frankly the left hold a significant (but not only them) responsibility for taking a destructive crowbar to it.

There is considerable irony in the left complaining about the right implementing 1984 in the US....I had the Police sent to my door for whining on here! Thousands of arrests every year for hurty comments....people in jail for unpopular opinions.

The Ukrainian war is wrong, but how it came about is complex and also none of our business. Our involvement is more to do with resource access than principle (a bad calculation).
I mostly blame the US and client states who went along with it, for that disastrous war. I believe in trade with Russia because that's the best thing for Europe.....Taking one side heavily always results in a crap situation. Turkey has shown that....Being one side's bitch without guarantees leaves you with the worst outcome.

I'm a pragmatist, I believe that it's the role of government to act in the best interests of their people, not regions or international ideas. I think Trump has gone too far on Greenland and honestly I don't believe any US general would sign up to attacking a Nato state......Not unless they were given a cast iron guarantee that Trump was permanently suspending democracy for a long time.....As they would be straight to the Hague once the Democrats took over.

Is Trump going to suspend democracy? Could happen, but not for a couple of years at least and it would have to involve the agreement of far more people than just him.....I don't think the decision has been made on that for several reasons.

But one thing is obvious, Trump won't be taking the risk of a jail cell, so a lot would be going on come that decision time.
