Mateta

The thing that really irks me about Mateta potentially moving is that has ample opportunity to realize his potential at Palace - if he could convert more of the chances that have been put on a plate for him, we could’ve been much higher this season and potentially challenging for Europe. He’s a good player, but he’s been so wasteful in front of goal that I honestly think Palace is the right level for him. I can see every chance that he goes to a bigger club like Juventus, where expectation is higher and he flops. It wasn’t so long ago that he was a very average player for us.

The rumoured 35m seems cheap. How can a proven goalscoring CF (albeit out of form) like Mateta be the same value as Brennan Johnson?
Last season Johnson scored 18 goals in all competitions for Spurs. JPM scored 17 goals in all competitions for us. Johnson is also 4 years younger so has possible resale value JPM doesn’t have. Looked at like that the question is more how come Johnson isn’t worth more than JPM

JP has always viewed us as a stepping stone, he was open about it in his early interviews when signing. To be honest fair play to him, he’s done well for us, we’ve mutually benefited. Can’t have another Guehi situation, let’s get the dough for him and reinvest, even show some faith in Eddie and see what happens.

Someone has made a sensible decision and rebuffed Juve's risible opening offer.

"Juventus' first offer was made yesterday evening and was for an onerous loan of €2 million with an obligation to buy conditional on €28 million in the event of qualification for the next Champions League or Europa League".

Some how JPM has broken into the French squad now so he is most probably worth well more than what Juventus have offered so far. He will be staying put until his and Palaces form returns. Over to you Glasner, do your f***ing job!

The problem is this unsettles the player, who I believe has said he wants to go. Unfortunately for JP his prospective new employers are taking the piss.
If we do sell him, I, for one, would be fuming at the board and have a lot of sympathy for OG ( despite his outburst). I suspect there was more reasons behind his outburst burst than we were told. Still SP never makes mistakes, does he

I’m open to him leaving but that’s just a piss take of an offer.

He's a donkey who is back to his true form, and is asking for a mega pay rise.? Ha ha ha! Get rid.
small picture big picture up until glasner he never got a run of games 2/3 games because he didnt score 3 hatricks was dropped , then picked again then dropped again so on and so on , then a run of games with Olise and Eze and was scoring , he lost confidence and both of them thats all but still scoring pens , what is missing untill this season always got shots on target or very close , so his true form is last season big picture , AJ scored sh#t load of pens nobody said anything about the amount of one on one he missed

JP is a big character and you need those at times like this when everyone around the club must be feeling pretty sh!t. Although he isn't scoring, he's also still important to how we play in terms of getting the ball up field, retaining it and causing havoc. If we sell him without a replacement, then we really are in serious threat of getting dragged into a relegation scrap, whoever the manager is.

Cannot accept anything that isn't a straight out buy. Or at minimum is automatic purchase in the summer. Otherwise how on earth do we plan for it? Loan someone now, knowing that we may well get JP back in the summer..

We did it with Uche and if I'm honest, its a bit of a piss take.

I think given the noise of the weekend the fact that he apparently has reportedly gone and negotiated personal terms before we've accepted an offer is pretty poor.

I get that it's media speculation so could be bollocks but, if it is true, he'd do well to focus on his current club where he hasn't exactly been contributing much the last couple of months.
