Feckers whose Job-title may be bigger than their Talents/Pedigree ?

Past or present Feckers. We are just asking the question.

'Bigger than their Talents' = There was surely somebody else ? Somebody who could have been better qualified ?

1. Benteke

2. Mastermind, David Lammy

3. The Football Pundits on RTE.....former players for Millwall & St Pats Athletic ( Eamonn Dunphy, Richie Sadlier, Brian Kerr ). On Sky (or even the BBC, so long as they fit the profile) we get pundits with illustrious CV's from the Champions League & World Cups. RTE Pundits ? Underqualified Clowns who frequently accuse Champions League managers of 'not knowing what they are doing'.

4. David Carradine, Kung Fu TV series. Scary hard man ? From a well connected Hollywood family. Carradine actually couldn't beat his way out of a wet paper bag. There are Old women, selling sandwiches at Greggs, who frighten me more than the Late Carradine.

5. Hunter Biden. With a controversial background of Drugs, Alcohol and fire-arm violations. I cannot say how this person achieved the Lofty peaks of career success.

what others ?

The Pope.

There are lots of MP's treading water and employing family members. Going on fact-finding trips etc, on expenses.
Lot's of middle-management in business and Local Authorities on significant salaries, but kept out of harms way, in order they can't do any damage. Nepotism still at work. In fact it would seem they are the only candidate for job, and on appointment, they are given the nondescript job title, and hidden away in an office where they can't mix 🙂
Any of those hangers-on on the Civil List/Royal payroll. Specifically thinking of Andrew, his wife and daughters and Edward and Sophie. But there are loads more, and they are breeding. Catherine's parents, who got spirited away from their detached house into a gated manor-house with walled grounds and security, and a big wedge to live on.
In sports, there are very few, because you get found out very quickly if you can't perform.

That first paragraph was a lovely trip down memory lane where this world actually existed. Attacked and reduced from the Blair regime and gone forever after the banks collapsed.

The more I think about it the more convinced I am that in this country we have institutionalised corruption.

Why risk being caught giving or receiving a brown envelope when you can achieve the same via a gong or a cushy no show job on a Quango.

What sickens me is that some of the parties e.g. Labour should know better. If they were truly socialists they would abolish the House of Lords and all titles and gongs. However once in power they discovered how useful the gravy train is in keeping people quiet.

Meet the new boss same as the old boss.

You can always visit Ireland for that.
oh yeah.

and then from AI....

Discussions about Ryan Tubridy and nepotism in RTÉ often link his career to family connections, particularly his grandfather Todd Andrews, a former RTÉ Authority chairman, suggesting early career advantages, though some argue his sustained success proves talent. The nepotism claims intensified alongside RTÉ's payment scandal, where undisclosed payments to Tubridy fueled accusations that deeper systemic issues at the state broadcaster favored certain personalities, with Tubridy becoming a focal point for broader concerns about fairness and cronyism within RTÉ.

Key Points of the Nepotism Discussion:
  • Family Ties: Tubridy's grandfather, Todd Andrews, chaired the RTÉ Authority, and an uncle was a Programme Executive, leading to suggestions that these connections helped his entry and ascent at RTÉ.

  • "Charisma Void" & Favoritism: Critics on platforms like Reddit describe Tubridy as lacking charisma but question his prominence, attributing it to nepotism and management favoring him due to his family links, rather than pure talent.

  • Broader RTÉ Culture: The conversation around Tubridy's alleged nepotism often serves as a proxy for wider frustrations with perceived cronyism, lack of accountability, and inefficient use of funds at RTÉ, with many feeling the system benefits insiders.
Connection to the RTÉ Payments Scandal:
  • Fueling Accusations: The controversy over undisclosed payments (totaling €345,000 over several years) and the complicated Renault deal, where RTÉ underwrote payments to Tubridy, intensified claims of nepotism and corruption.

  • Scapegoat or Symptom? Some viewers felt Tubridy was being made a scapegoat for systemic rot, while others saw him as a prime example of the very culture of entitlement and unfairness they believed nepotism fostered at RTÉ.
Differing Views:
  • While some believe his career is primarily a result of familial advantage, others, like restaurant critic Jay Rayner (in a different context but relevant to the "nepo baby" debate), suggest that while family connections might open doors, sustained success in media ultimately requires talent, even if Tubridy's long career is seen by some as suspicious

He was a reasonably adequate player with Wolves, back when they were trying to get promoted to the Prem. An endeavour in which they failed. But the job title of 'ManUre player' ? Surely we would need to hear a very convincing argument ?

It's like exposure to a virus. Wilf was forever branded a former Man United player after two games no matter how many hundred he played for us.
