As OG is leaving
Does this mean parish will not fork out anymore money on signings as OG is leaving and will now wait until new manager in summer??
I’ve noticed it’s suddenly gone quiet on the RB and Forward we were poised to sign.

Rock and hard place. See out the season, reset in the summer knowing our captain and manager are going or roll the dice, Hobbs has identified the players and we go for the conference cup.

If the new man is lined up then is Johnson and any other signings his recommendations?

You would hope spending is not over. With Guehi leaving and possibly Mateta we hardly have enough to win a game for the rest of the season. One full time fit centre half, one who gets injured regularly and one youngster plus one who can stand in on occasion. No fit specialist centre forward.

It’s not great. I wonder if Johnson knew Glasner was leaving before signing?

Indeed.

Imray's recall suggests that.

Clickbait is saying that we want David from Juventus in a swap deal with JPM. I have only see clips of him but he looks like a similar player physical, and fast. Hopefully that deal can be done.

We have a long standing interest in David from the Freedman days.
We also scouted Johnson when he was at Forest, so another long term interest.
It’s correct to point out manager’s preferences though.
Johnson was a favourite of Ang at Spurs and did well for him.
Frank, however, wanted to go down a different route and preferred the tricky dribbler Kudus in the role.
Our next manager (if already selected) needs to be on board with new signings or we could be wasting money if they do not suit his tactics.

Juventus have stated that David is not for sale so that’s a non starter.
Yes the return of Imray confirms that we won’t be signing a right back.
Palace only want Cherif on loan with an option to buy and Angers only want a permanent move.

Looks like the best we can hope for is maybe a couple of loans that’s it.

Having said that why we decided to spend £35 million on Johnson now and not back the manager in the summer window is an odd one. I’m sure Johnson is not impressed to now learn OG is off.

You would think so, especially as we only need a few more points to guarantee staying up.
There would be quite a meltdown on here though with Guehi and possibly Mateta off as well this month……which would be quite entertaining 😅

I was thinking our business might be done too. The recall of Imray and Rak Sakyi (is that confirmed?) suggest it might be. Of course, I’d like to see a Guehi replacement but perhaps that simply involves buying (or loan with an option to buy) a set of crutches for Riad.

They was throwing names around on sky last night that were interested in, but as we all know, they’ll always do that and we’ll end up with none of them.

Parish has known since last October that Ollie was leaving and I would have thought would have will have a very short shortlist with regard the job .
In a perfect world Parish will already have his man and is taking instruction on what type of players he needs to compliment the squad .

With the departure of the skipper I can see maybe an experienced CB on loan but not much else coming in until the summer (last day of the window 😕)

History has shown us this is seldom the case, we are not a manu citeh or liverpool who can effectively tap up their next manager in advance and Parish would not do this even if we were.

I predict that the search for the next manager will only commence in earnest at the end of the season. It will probably take 6 to 8 weeks with a view to getting it finalised before the start of pre season. Then we will have a month or so to look at what the new manager wants, he won’t want to make any decisions before has has seen the players he has to work with, especially with our limited resources. He will also need to evaluate the departures with Wharton likely to go and with Mitchell’s contract up it’s likely he will also be off.

Well if Parish knew in October that Glasner was leaving he was still willing to spend £35m on Brennan Johnson a couple of weeks ago , so it shouldn't stop any further recruitment
