The article certainly seems well informed and would suggest that despite the doubt expressed here progress has taken place behind the scenes, there is a plan as to how to do this while still functioning, and, as SP promised, we will see visible evidence of progress shortly. Happy days!
 
So now even the worst cynics are probably realising that this stand is getting built, I am wondering what colour scheme will be used. The CG images have depicted various ideas, so which one is best?

The Whitehorse will presumably lose its 'EAGLES' when reduced and the Holmesdale seats are looking a bit worn. Will we redo the lot?

Personally, I'd like a stripe effect rather than different colours for different tiers.

And maybe we could find some of the old posts from people who said it would never happen. 😀
 
I noticed that several other clubs are also getting plans approved. Let's hope we aren't left behind again.

Why would that leave us behind? I'm sure there are enough resources to go around?

Thanks for this, I had seen similar reports elsewhere, and they all seem to be from reputable sites.

The interesting thing was the quote from the Mayor, who said that the sale of the Wooderson Close houses (to Palace, by the Council) was complete, that the residents had been rehoused, and that the properties "will now be prepared for demolition, clearing the way for the next stage of Crystal Palace FC’s Main Stand redevelopment at Selhurst Park".

My understanding was always that the club had to not only buy out the houses, but also provide new replacements somewhere before the Wooderson Close houses could be demolished. The article is silent on that aspect. In fact, I do wonder if a bit of spin is being deployed in the Mayor saying that the houses will be 'prepared for demolition' rather than just 'be demolished'.

Of course, the apparent arranging of finance does suggest all systems are more or less go, and perhaps (hopefully) there is a big ugly machine rumbling down Holmesdale Road as I type, on its way to flatten the houses and clear the site. It does all remain a bit vague, though.

Maybe theres been some wiggle room, maybe by the Mayor saying all the residents have been rehoused they’re giving the green light for demolition. Maybe there’s something in the pipeline for the provision of other properties and they’re allowing the go ahead because of those plans in place.

We will no doubt know more in the coming weeks, especially if demolition doesn’t take place immediately. Let’s face it, you’d want them down ASAP to avoid any issues or delays and it would only take a couple of days a project of that size.

Agreed. If you delay you're likely to have squatters or eco protestors taking them over so the sooner they come down the better.
 
The services (gas. electric) have already been disconnected if that is 'preparing' them for demolition.

Hopefully they just get on with it and swing a wrecking ball asap, rather than faff about carefully taking the lead off the roof for recycling etc. Really don't need squatters getting a whiff of an opportunity.

Residential properties. Anyone squats, the police can now summarily evict them.

Anyway, if the club have any sense (assume they do!) they will have employed full time security to avoid the risk.
 
The article says...

'Initially the site [of the houses on Wooderson Close] will be used as a construction zone to provide safe routes for deliveries and workforce movements and to help reduce disruption on matchdays'.

That suggests that demolition of the houses must be one of the earliest stages of the build, or at least, the build proper, rather than being left to later on.

From this I take that whilst demolition of the houses doesn't necessarily mean the structure of the new stand is imminent, it is nevertheless likely that cannot expect to see that structure emerge all the time the houses are there.

If nothing else, they signify that much.
 
Once those six houses are gone, the entranceway into the club car park doubles in width, which will be vital for the scale of the construction.
