FA Cup 3rd Round Macclesfield

"Looks like players who get the chance can't take it, maybe are not good enough, and it means we need all the others back because I've seen, a few weeks ago, a different team playing better."

Glasner is a bit unhappy with some of his squad...

Ok. I’ve had a sulk in the shed for a while and as totally sick as I feel- I don’t think it’s time to turn on the players.

I do however think Glasner got it wrong today. Very wrong in fact. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that he has (for the most part) got most things right since his arrival. He has a HUGE job on his hands now to turn this pathetic performance around in the next week.

The players will undoubtedly reflect on a SH1T day at the office and I hope they too feel sick for the next few weeks.
We fans will live with today for ever- every flipping year from now on we’ll hear all about the FA Cup giant killing of 2026…..GREAT ! It’s so flipping Palace!!!

However OG and the board have got to put things right with our squad ASAP before this goes down as a season we’d all like to forget.

Time to show us what your actually made of Glasner.

As he should be. Chucking the squad players under the bus is wrong though. Yes they payed terribly but so did everyone. Did Rodney play worse than Pino? Was Drakes-Thomas’ effort worse than Guehi and Richards today?

I’d rather he said everyone was awful, the players coming in didn’t deliver and nor did our established first teamers or me. We all need to do better.

I’d also have more sympathy if he didn’t keep picking Pino who is seeming untouchable despite being awful

I think it's safe to say that this is the biggest humiliation this club has experienced since the 9-0 drubbing at Anfield. This time though I see no silver lining at the end of this season as was the case then. The shame of this will live with us for years to come.
You wouldn't remember Hartlepool then 1993 , we are masters at giving and receiving shock results

He tried to be clever, and totally disrespected the competition, the opposition, and the fans. That line-up looked like they hadn't even met in the staff canteen, let alone on a training pitch. Abysmal.

I hate the f***ing BBC. Watching the Spurs v Villa game and they have just shown the highlights again and obviously love that they had the biggest ever shock live on their s*** channel.
Yes this will go down as our worst ever defeat as it will be brought up now for weeks and then every bloody round and every bloody year until the record is broken, and because we are Palace the record will never be beaten, because it is so f***ing ridiculous that a team 117 places below so thoroughly deserved to beat us.
I had calmed down but I’m back up to 10 again🤬

That's because we asked for more prominent placement and more extensive coverage of our games in the past ....

Here's what I saw...

Defense:

1st goal was the result of an elementary error by Canvot, who was well positioned in front of Dawson, but who didn't track the ball. Didn't react to pressure from behind. Didn't jump. Individual error by young, inexperienced player.

2nd goal was a flukey one, created (after a bizarre scramble and blocked clearance) by a severe deflection off Guehi's thigh, that miraculously went directly to a player in perfect position to redirect it (albeit with an awkward, off-balance stab) so that it dribbled past a goalkeeper blinded by the waist-high sun. Improbable chain of circumstances, arguably unavoidable.

Attack:

From our Cup-winning side, we were missing Eze, Mateta, Sarr, and Muñoz. Who else scores for us? None of our midfielders ever score goals. As compensation, we now have a fine finisher in Brennan Johnson – but he joined the club only 8 days ago. Scoring against any disciplined, hard-working team would be difficult for this group.

Astro Turf.
Freezing temperatures.

We didn't work hard enough until after Pino's goal, but the bigger problem is that we don't have the depth to be able to win games like this with ease. I don't blame Glasner, and I don't really blame Parish. (The cheap, rich Yankee owners, yes.) Now that we can focus on the Conference and Premier League, perhaps we can be more realistic.
