Why Parish shouldn’t resign!

The great thing about Steve is he got shot of De Boer ASAP!!!!!To be a great managing director you must recognise your mistakes and act for the benefit of the organisation. You might look a fool but be a winner long term.

Football is a mad business and if your getting 4 out of six decisions right you are a genius and will do for me!!!!!!!!
We all owe Steve for that glorious day at Wembley and I'm not looking forward to the day he packs it in.

When Steve Parish leaves the club, his tenure will not be judged by his mistakes. It will recognize the fact that he took an also ran Championship club from administration to an enviable position in the Premier League, along with winning the club's first major silverware.

Previously, our success at the top level had been fleeting and never sustained. Most of our history was spent in the lower leagues.

We might all wish for better things season on season, but success comes with its own problems. Bigger clubs want your best players, and you have to play a lot more games. It's hard to keep on an upward trajectory.

Parish might frustrate us with his apparent caution in the transfer windows but that model has done well so far. Many clubs of equal or greater standing have risen only to plummet down the leagues due to financial mismanagement because of big ambitions ruling over good sense.
Finishing mid table might be boring but it is better than nose diving into League one and spending a decade getting back.

We still have plenty to play for this season and hopefully we can get a few signings in January.
Glasner will stay or go, but Parish will do what he thinks is best for the club, not Oliver Glasner.
What has Glasner done so far that isn’t best for the club?

Glasner is paid to win games. He also wants to win games for his own sake. Winning games aligns with the club's interests all the time he is at Palace.

If Glasner decides that his ambitions won't be satisfied by the club, then he will move on. Parish while try to keep Glasner if it is possible within the club's financial constraints. If not, he won't.

I look at it from when Parish took over to where we are now. It's been a steady improvement to the point where we actually won something and got into Europe for the first time. From where we were that's quite an achievement. Maybe in another universe it would have happened without Parish, but in this one he's been the steadying factor throughout, so credit where credit's due.
He'll leave when he's ready, I suspect he wants to get this new stand business done and dusted before he takes a break.

I feel at the end of the season we will need a rebuild once again. Players like Guihe, munoz, Mateta have made noises about leaving not to mention the manager Glasner is most likely off. Who better than parish to see us through once more.

And also appreciate how very quickly it can all go wrong. Especially when the Board listens to the fans too much.
I bet the Spammers wish they hadn’t been so vocal about wanting Moyes out now !
Selective hearing though isn't it? The majority of Spanners fans did not want to move to an athletics stadium and now they are there not a single fan thinks it was a good idea. Didn't stop Brady seeing pound signs and ignoring them then though did it?

I find it mind-blowing that some can't see the good Steve Parish has done for CPFC and I see no reason he will not continue to do the same in the future. Everybody ... EVERYBODY ... makes mistakes along the way. That doesn't mean they are not good or capable. He should NOT resign!

It’s a God given right to moan as a football fan and critique everybody involved at your club for everything they do. It’s a natural part of the human experience.

If things went perfectly all the time, as Palace fans, we’d be robbed of a pillar which stabilises our connection to reality.

So much goes wrong, all the time. Cue the (natural) moaning. If however, any person were to look at the bigger picture and declare Parish to somehow be a detriment to our club, they’d be best served travelling to the Maudsley as opposed to Selhurst Park, at any given time. Their relationship with reality would already be in ruins.

Parish is arguably the single greatest thing to happen to this club in my lifetime but also, sign some more f**king players…please!!! 🤣🤣

You only have to look at Charlton who thought they were bigger than they were. They wanted to get rid of Curbishley as they wanted European football!!

Looking at west hams downfall. Maybe we take a minute to appreciate Steve Parish a little bit more.
They are a horrible little club, nothing would be more pleasant than them and Forest going down together.
They hounded Moyes out after winning them a European trophy, wanting to kick on with an expansive style, but didn't buy the right players.

Our goal should always be top 10 in the prem and close to winning a cup.

The euro spot is it's reward, but not the target...

Put It this way, we're on holiday with the lads, we go out and see a proper stunner, we get lucky, we're punching above our weight... we splash the cash, she's tipsey, she likes us in our Burberry and take her back to the villa and seal the deal as the boys cheer you on (as you walk out the bar).

You wake up, you go home after giving her your email, you realize it's never going to last - who you were last night, it's a far cry from the sales associate from south Norwood getting Sunday lunch at ya mums each week.

Sad part is, 6 months later you check your spam folder and there she is, living in Kingston wanting to see you again...

Parrish is amazing - I have the odd gripe with the stand and the transfer window, but he gets it right nearly all the time and always has done from the get go, not appointing Chris Coleman, appointing Doogie in both his roles - Pulis and Big Sam saw something negative, and he may be over-bearing as a boss, which the Pardews and Roys of this world will tolerate, but those who can choose better options, like Ollie, won't. But over all he's a massive asset to the club, look at Charlton, now West Ham, or Wednesday, that's poor ownership - 13 years in the prem, Europe, two trophies, point out his shortcomings by all means, but we have to acknowledge his achievement. And give it 2 or 3 years and we may have a 35k stadium AND be regularly top 8, nearing 20 years in the prem.

Present situation is fully on Parish, he chose to ignore Glasner's knowledge and recommendations for our first ever campaign in Europe.

I think he's taken us as far as he can and should step aside.

Ok so Parish steps down, what then?
Who do you see coming in and running the club in a better fashion?
Is your gripe purely based on us not spending enough in the summer window, because if that is the case no one knows what was going on behind the scenes with Textor etc.
At the start of the thread I suggested that people should be careful what they wish for, and I still believe that to be the case.

We are just having a bad spell, once we get January out of the way and get our injured players back with 1 or 2 new additions hopefully we can kick on in February.

I still think midd table finish with the conference cup.
I don’t disagree with this even though I’ve given my points in other threads about games we’ve recently lost and late substitutions blaming Glasner. With Man Utd now needing a new manager we could lose Glasner but even if that happens I still think your comments stand. It’s Palace and last year we were spoilt rotten and are having a difficult time being back to normality 🙂
