Guehi to Liverpool Jan?

Think he is gonna end up at Real Madrid. He dodged a bullet in the end by not joining Liverpool.

If he goes there, or anywhere, all the best to him, he’ll always be a legendary captain and player for us, he’s a large part of getting us to the level we are now at and he deserves his next chapter if it’s what he wants. We’ll be okay too, most important was getting this one last season especially the first few months.

Do we think there is any small chance he ends up signing an extension to stay put? If we look like going deep in 1, 2, or 3 cups, and keep up the good form in the league?
If Real want him it's pretty nailed on that he'll go and good luck to him- who wouldn't? If he stayed it would be a miracle. Mind you so was Palace winning the cup.
Clickbait is now linking us with Konsa from Villa as a replacement.

I have to agree with this assessment. A journeyman player seeking a pension top up with his last contract, yeah I can see that but how much money does a person want/need. If he isn't set for life, moneywise, already then he must have wasted a bus load of cash! If he signed an extension like Olise did and then moved on he would still get an obscene signing on fee and mega wages for 3/4/5 years. He has FA Cup and Community Shield medals, more than many excellent players have achieved so he has no need to trophy hunt. He is a good player, a much better player for being here!
Not a very moral action in my book but then football ain't a particularly moral environment. I can only comment from a supporters viewpoint and I'm not expecting much support for my opinion as clubs are not always paragons of virtue either.
That would be the Michael Olise that had a £50m release clause inserted into that contract extension when arguably worth far in excess of that.

Marc has been clear that he wouldn't be signing another deal. That is his prerogative. It was Parish that wanted him out of the door back in August, otherwise he would be playing out his contract without any ill founded aspersions on his character.

Wherever you are employed, in whatever walk of life, your first duty is to yourself. You are responsible for your career, not your employer.

True. However fans regard a club it's just a job to the players.

We are not party to any conversations taking place, if MG has his heart set on Liverpool and has told them so, Liverpool won’t make an offer in January knowing he will join in the summer. Personally I would like to see him join Real Madrid, but ultimately the decision is up to Marc.

He's someone with an apparently deep faith and belief in divine guidance, so who knows but I will be surprised if he were to extend his contract. It would probably take a "Damascus Road" moment for that to happen.

If Liverpool defensive woes continue through the winter, I doubt that they will wait until Summer to try to correct that situation.

From what I have read Guehi has a very good family life living with his parents and sisters. Only he will know how he feels about uprooting and going to live in Spain, Germany or Liverpool.
It's a very big decision to make. We would all love him to stay and Im sure the club could come up with a very attractive package. But maybe the lure from the top three clubs in the world will be too much to ignore. Fully deserved whichever path he selects.
Wherever he plays, he has built an enviable reputation as one of the finest footballers on the planet with a very positive approach to the game. We are privileged to have him as a Palace player.

Rumours of the club cashing in in January. Which they may just have to for the sake of the club's finances and future.
Whilst Liverpool have improved over the last couple of games, if they are to challenge for the top spot or a Champions League place, they probably need to bolster their defence. So do they pay up in January or take a chance in not signing him and risking a foreign club getting him? Pay now and secure him or sign him post season for nothing?

People seem to forget that ‘rumours of the club cashing in’ in January ignore the fact that the decision rests entirely in the player’s hands. It will be Marc who will be ‘cashing in’ and he will choose where that will be, not Palace. and good luck to him.

No idea, to be fair I think the biggest part of it will be what Marc decides. I always thought he'd go to Liverpool. Not so sure now. He could probably get more at Real. Plus, with his size and technique you might think European leagues might suit him better. But as I say, no idea. I heard Guehi supports Liverpool but couldn't be sure.

This is doing the rounds too.

Well I think Man City can offer a better player in return if this happens.

If Guehi goes in January to Liverpool he runs the risk of joining a club that has patchy form which might affect his England chances.

The noises are that Parish wants to sell him but the power is with Marc.

Whatever happens I hope we know early in the window otherwise we could have another transfer shambles.

If Guehi departs in January, the club receive a transfer fee.
Should Guehi depart at the conclusion of his contract the club receives 'Sweet Fanny Adams' and he will be able to command a significant signing-on fee. There might be more choice of clubs given that he will be a 'Free' transfer.

I’d obviously prefer Marc to go abroad when he does leave. I’d also prefer him to remain with us til the end of the season, as I think the pro’s out way the cons.

If someone desperate were to offer us over £30M and we could buy the intended replacement then I would be tempted however. The only thing is would Marc agree to the move so close to being a free agent?

I'm not sure we'll buy a replacement if Guehi left in Jan, Canvot appears to be the current replacement. Anyone bought in will need to be up to speed as soon as they arrive, which short of Chabolah, I'm not sure exists.
More Likely is that we would use the money on other areas - like Boey or Johnson to help out in areas our current squad can't fill.

.. but unless there's a personal connection with 'pool, I can see him waiting for Real to come knocking in the summer.

He's a wonderful player, possibly our classiest centre half ever, but I'd sell to the highest offer, although I accept MG will have a say on the matter.
We have to move on - sadly. Similar considerations apply to the manager I fear.

There are already a number of clubs desperate to sign Guehi now to fill problem areas in defence. Real Madrid, ManU, Liverpool, Bayern come immediately to mind. He will get a huge signing on fee anyway because the demand is there. If he doesn’t move in January Palace lose out big time. Since the Euros a have noticed a number of silly mistakes coming into his game. Not many I admit but more than prior to the competition. A £30 million fee plus maybe £10 million from our resources received now would allow us to find a quality centre back, maybe not quite the same standard but nevertheless someone we can develop. How many are looking for a club in January to play regularly and cement their places in a National team destined for the World Cup. Keeping Guehi will cost us circa £40 million replacing him £30 million which could have been used for other positions.
